Long War installer borked?

Post by BrassMann »

Howdy,
I've had my fair share of issues running the Linux installer for EW-LW, but here's the current problem I'm facing:
Running the installer normally (through the terminal) crashes to desktop. Using the command
sudo ./install-LW.sh

I'm able to run it, which grants the following output:

Installing Long War for XCOM:EW, please, be patient...
User files dir: /home/enfants/.local/share/feral-interactive/XCOM/XEW
old backup already exists in /home/enfants/.local/share/feral-interactive/XCOM/XEW/backup or /home/enfants/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/XCom-Enemy-Unknown/xew/backup.
Owerwrite old backup? (y/n) y
Removing old backup and all its content...
Wrote backup to:
User files: /home/enfants/.local/share/feral-interactive/XCOM/XEW/backup
Game files: /home/enfants/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/XCom-Enemy-Unknown/xew/backup
Copying install files...
ln: failed to create symbolic link '/home/enfants/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/XCom-Enemy-Unknown/xew/binaries/linux/uninstall-LW.sh': Not a directory
Long War installed successfully.
Now run the game. Remeber to check your game settings (especially video settings).

This is untrue, as long war is not installed whatsoever. I feel it is noteworthy to mention my EW installation doesn't launch properly through steam, and that I use the xcom.sh script in the main directory, if this somehow flags my installation as pirated.

I really feel like playing this otherwise really great mod again,
A very confused player
