War - Not declared by me / against me

China (100% Resistance control) has declared war on Italy (100% Servants). While the chinese armies are moving in, I took over all control points in Italy. Now China is not accepting any peace offer from me. I don't want to fight the Resistance, do not want to declare war on China with my European Union, but there is no way (that I can see) to end this war.
Feels wrong to me.

Drop a save and see if declaring war with the EU makes the AI want to accept peace. I've found that Unaligned AI is a lot more receptive to peace if the other side also has nuclear weapons. My practical example: France Allying Ukraine and joining the Russia-Ukraine war will flip unclaimed Russia from 0% Peace to 100% Peace. Might also apply to non-extremists like the Resistance. Though faction relations likely play a part here as well.
