Lone Wolf considers the Gremlin an Ally (negative Aid Protocol interaction)

Post by DashingRookie »

Summery:
The Shinobi's Lone Wolf perk seems to consider the Specialist's Gremlin an ally in regards to its own condition for activation. Using Aid Protocol on the soldier will shut off Lone Wolf since the gremlin is following it around (and being at less than 7 tiles distance) for the remainder of the turn.

Info:
- Long War 1.2 (Steam)
- Windows 7 64bit
- ModList:

Code: Select all

[Engine.XComModOptions]
ActiveMods=CapnbubsAccessoriesPack
ActiveMods=PerfectInformation
ActiveMods=LootIndicator
ActiveMods=LW_Overhaul
ActiveMods=EvacAll
ActiveMods=LEBDropDownReplacement
ActiveMods=FasterOverwatch
ActiveMods=GotchaAgain
Reproduction:
Go on a mission with a shinobi and specialist; move shinobi in range of an enemy while also at least 7 tiles away from specialist; check to-hit on enemy to see lone wolf being applied; use specialist's aid protocol on shinobi and check to-hit again to see lone wollf being no longer applied.

I just realized it is possible to restore the Lone Wolf bonus by sending the gremlin to a hack attempt after using Aid Protocol and then canceling it. The Gremlin will return to the Specialist and not to the soldier the Aid Protocol was used on. The protocol seemingly remains in effect regardless... fascinating.

This doesn't work with airdrop, combat protocol nor scanning protocol since it always returns back to the Aid Protocol target. (probably never truly leaves in the first place while the animation plays out)
