Whew! I actually had been holding off launching my LW2 campaign because of worries I'd have an issue with the vanilla classes popping up. Thanks guys and gals.

same, CP only. definitely CP only as i spent time updating about 300 people in my CP to LW classes
in GTS, just the LW ones.

UseMyClass uses character pool classes.
You should make sure you ALWAYS select the LW2 classes there, or your soldiers will be promoted to broken classes.
I would recommend not using the mod, to be honest.

Unfortunately I have a character that has to be Canadian, and has to be a certain class for my narrative to work :<

I feel your pain. I have 2 Australians, one a sniper, and the other a specialist, who are together in their Bio because of their class differences. It sucks, but at the moment no mods seem to reliably do class selection

UseMyClass does, and it's worked for me in Long War, only way you don't get the class you want for that person is if they're a reward or Black Market/Resistance Haven buy, and even then you can just ignore that until they show up in the CP.
As for the LW2 Ranger..... very few things are as satisfying as shoving a Double-barreled sawed-off shotgun up a Muton's (or really any alien's) nose and blowing its brains out.
