Re: Latest Patch Notes

I have a fair number of those things in my current game which will tip me right over the edge into Punitive Xeno actions...eeek. Yes. That is exactly why it's being done. The 'Mercury Dyson Sphere' tactic of rushing to Mercury and to Research Campuses, spending ~60 MC on Mercury stations and facili...

Nerfing Research further

"Nerfed Research Campus, costs an MC now and has 200 crew. we will designate a hate zone somewhere for this change, but producing 1000/research a day in the mid-30s is far too much" This is a good start, but I'd have Research add to alien Hate as well. If Humanity building spaceships, mini...

Re: MC cap & retaliation levels

Note that MC creates a 'floor', below which hate will not go.

Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #10: R&D

Something to consider is the impact of R+D on alien hate. At the moment, the aliens appear to be very meh about how fast humanity is advancing it's technology. If especially high research numbers pushed alien hate up the same way MC does, then this might provide some needed balance (*cough* send a f...

Re: Request: please rework Africa to have a shred of hope

Fixing the corruption - and also the discontent - is very, very difficult simply because of the 'It's our turn now' attitudes that seem to prevail. Which the game reflects well by elites being unhappy if Spoils are not high enough, and this making coups and loss of control very easy unless the coun...

Re: Request: please rework Africa to have a shred of hope

I think part of the problem is the relative costs of controlling small, poor countries as versus rich, immediately useful ones. If Africa was cheap to grab, and you could effectively stabilise it so it was useful for the move into space (and Im thinking of the costs of direct investment as well as t...

Re: Suggestion: Alliances should cause cohesion drift

Agreed. 100%. But at the same time you would have people protesting because you allied with Israel. Others protesting because you allied with Saudi Arabia. And others protesting because of the money you spent on under writing NATO. NATO was an alliance that, at one point, contained both General Fra...

Re: Suggestion: Alliances should cause cohesion drift

You might be surprised to look at the real-world 1960s.

NATO, SEATO and OAS covered a lot of countries.

Re: Victor-1 Arrives - Too much information?

Probably, but you have the deeper issue that this is the age of the Internet, and every player who wants to know will have a guide open in another window.

Re: Suggestion: Alliances should cause cohesion drift

Probably an 'easy' way to implement this is to change the priority 'pips' to a slider system, where each slider has a degree of freedom proportional to the level of influence you have in the country. I'd do it by having a pip that The People agree with to be green, one they are unhappy with amber a...

Re: Suggestion: Alliances should cause cohesion drift

Secondly, I don't think it's quite as simple as you laid it out. What would a 'rest value priority list' look like for Humanity first? Would it be the same in the USA vs India vs China? No. It would have to be different for every country. If we are going that route, then we should assign countries ...

Re: Suggestion: Alliances should cause cohesion drift

To some extent it exists in the form of 'rest values'. But the rest values are universally applied. Even for spoils. It's a rest value strongly linked to democracy rating. There is no consideration of what the cultural values of one nation might be versus another. Maybe trying to model that in full...

Re: Suggestion: Alliances should cause cohesion drift

This. There should be institutional inertia - even if a government is now secretly controlled by a conspiracy with another agenda, there should be consequences for doing a rapid 180 on issues. Personally, I'd go even further with this, and have cohesion drift if you move economic policy away from a ...

Re: Early ship design - best options?

(not sure why the AI factions do so many poor ones so soon) Because by your access to playthroughs and youtube videos, you have the benefit of knowing both the set of probable futures, the strategy of the alien menace and specific useful countermeasures against it's weaknesses, and the AI has simpl...

"Armies repair themselves when not fighting in a friendly region"

Are you absolutely sure this should be free, and should not - for example - put a malus on spending to MilTech and new Armies ?

Re: Thoughts on miltech/nation investment

But I do think that it taking multiple years of economy-hampering investment to modernize your military is neither realistic nor good-feeling gameplay wise. It definitely takes massive investment to "push the envelope" technologically, which is (part) of why the US spends so much on its m...

Diplomatic options for the AI

One thing that has been a feature of 20th and 21st century politics is powerful countries providing economic and military aid for their clients. There is a classic example right now with the Russo-Ukranian War, with the US and EU providing money, ammunition and equipment to Ukraine, which is resulti...
