As a general rule of thumb, if you don't evac you get corpses, and if you evac you never get corpses (besides alien rulers/avatar corpse). But there are some exceptions to this rule - retaliations/mini-retaliations: if you have to defend your haven or one of the haven jobs like supply convoy, intel...

Yes, that. Mutons have inherent high defense against melee attacks. You're lucky you had a 100% chance to hit, quite frankly...

I think he's referring to a full inspection function like LW1 had. I especially appreciated it for learning about which Heavy Floaters, Mutons etc had stuff like Bombardier and other more annoying (especially overwatch related) perks.
