Re: Schism not doing guaranteed damage
Did Insanity itself actually land? Insanity, as far as I understand, is not a guaranteed-hit ability even with Schism: you have to beat the enemy's will check.

PCS bonuses as AWC perks?
I'm tinkering around with reworking the AWC trees for my personal enjoyment and I was thinking about PCS bonuses. There are two kinds of PCS chips: flat stat bonuses (like Perception: +X aim), and abilities (like Body Shield). Considering SPARK has several of these typically PCS-granted abilities (B...

Re: The Quest to AWC-Train SPARK Units
Gonna have to recant some of that. Any and all changes I made to .uc files are moot, the mod would have to be rebuilt. Clearly I have a sound understanding for how Unreal and mods work.

I suggest mousing over the little <?> icon on the ability.
You can also read about it here: http://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Assault_(LW2)

The Quest to AWC-Train SPARK Units
I figured I'd make this its own topic and open it up to any other curious people that are good at fishing around. My goal is pretty simple: figure out what files need to be modified in order to allow SPARK the ability to train AWC abilities. I've logged my explorative progress so far. If anyone want...

Re: I wonder... how malleable the AWCpack ini is?
You can definitely add more perk levels to the AWC. I've done it before, just to see if it works. You don't even need scripts, it's all doable via ini. Things will probably get weird if you add more than 7 tiers to one of the perk trees, since the UI doesn't support it. I mean... yes, I did figure ...

Re: I wonder... how malleable the AWCpack ini is?
Hmm. "A Better AWC" does sound interesting but it's not quite what I'm trying to do. ABAWC gives you tools to fight the random skill rolls and basically - given enough supplies - hand-craft your soldiers. I think that part of the fun is in the randomness (so long as the random doesn't resu...

I wonder... how malleable the AWCpack ini is?
The AWC is honestly one of my favorite parts of soldier creation. I just love the way that soldiers can turn into truly unique fighting machines with a little randomness and some creative thinking. Each time I class a soldier, the first thing I do is look at their AWC rolls - all of 'em; I play with...

Re: Free Network Tower radio towers jack up the price of all towers?
For what it's worth, this is what JL had to say when asked about this right after 1.3 was released: Does the free radio tower you get from liberation count towards the increasing cost to manually build radio towers? It does. (The vanilla code just counts how many towers you have when pricing the ne...

Re: Free Network Tower radio towers jack up the price of all towers
If Radio Relays worked the way you want them to (the first one you build is always just as cheap no matter how many free ones you get first) then the optimal way to use them would shift to "do one or two Network Towers, then leapfrog 1-2 regions to build one relay next to the Blacksite, then s...

Re: Free Network Tower radio towers jack up the price of all towers
It was to encourage players to interact with the Lib chain more, and make liberation a more attractive choice in general by giving heavy incentives to go up to Liberation 4. Yup-yup. I probably could have used some clearer wording, but that's what I was getting at. Now, based on what you just said ...

Re: Free Network Tower radio towers jack up the price of all towers
50-150 supplies can typically be drummed up if you need to contact a region [...] My next radio tower costs 300 supplies and I'm into FL 13-14. I should be spending most of my dosh on coilguns and power armor, not scrapping a handful of elerium cores for radio towers. In either case, I can't ...

Re: Free Network Tower radio towers jack up the price of all towers
If you take the second approach, you're already getting a free radio tower. You don't get a double discount. Yes, that is in fact a perfectly reasonable other way to look at it but it doesn't really address my comment about it being gamey because it entices specific, arbitrary strategic decisions. ...

Re: Free Network Tower radio towers jack up the price of all towers
I mean gamey as in it entices the player to "game" the system, it has nothing to do with how realistic or unrealistic the increased cost of towers is. It strikes me as counter-intuitive that the "right" strategic decision is to make sure you purchase all the radio towers you'd ev...

Free Network Tower radio towers jack up the price of all towers?
Is this intended? It seems frustratingly game-y that, because I didn't pay for my first radio tower and instead ran a Lib 4 to get a free one, that any future radio towers I want to buy are way more expensive. It would seem to me that free radio towers earned via completing the Network Tower raid sh...

Re: HQ assaults
The problem with this is that once you do that and reveal the HQ advent usually goes apeshit and starts sending supply raids from all neighboring regions like mad [...] I don't think this is actually true. Completing the network tower doesn't generate any more vigilance than any other mission; I th...

Implacable sabotages Light 'Em Up
Note: Implacable is in the Ranger's tree by default ; this isn't even a weird edge-case with AWC abilities. If a unit (say, a Ranger) with Implacable scores a kill with their first Light 'Em Up shot, they lose their ability to do literally anything but move with their second action. No reloading (in...

Soldiers randomly getting their gear unequipped?
I'm not sure whether this is "vanilla" functionality or some kind of "QoL" feature attempted in Long War 2, but I've noticed that my soldiers have a bad habit of randomly getting their equipment removed in certain circumstances. From what I can tell, it happens when a soldier is ...

Re: How precisely do infiltrations in a just-liberated region work?
Aside from the flat infiltration increase, the main advantage you get is that enemies no longer get Reinforcements in the remaining missions. Obviously, that doesn't apply to Supply Raids, but it can be useful for cleaning up general ops. Oh, that's somethin' I didn't know. But yeah, certainly no c...

Intel-boosting a mission after liberation awards 0% bonus infiltration
If you try to intel-boost a mission that's leftover in a region that's just been liberated, the game awards the mission a 0% infiltration bonus. It appears that liberation gives all leftover missions in the region a flat 50% bonus infiltration, so balance-wise I'm not entirely sure I have a problem ...
