The usual mistake is to leave XEW out of the path and incorrectly replace EU files instead of EW files.

Thanks, this one's on our list. I have read that people have fixed it by turning off Red Fog -- not sure if it's before or during the mission (the Steam thread for Toolbox has it).

Whatever is causing those CTDs is probably happening beneath the level we modded at, because CTDs that were our fault typically occurred in a steadily reproducible fashion. We left those in for people who add perkpack to an existing campaign and have vanilla soldiers already created they want to upgrade. The text in the gts should note that.

If you want to change alien stats, change when aliens appear, or eliminate them entirely from the mod, it's not too hard. Use a text editor like Notepad++ and find the mod's config files. Hmm, can you be more specific? What have you been able to do so far? You'd need to break out specific config, content, loc, and src code. X2Character_AlienPack.uc is where the templates are initialized.

What I recommend you try is uninstalling/unsubscribing from the mod, getting v1 of the Muton Centurion mod on the Nexus (the original release version), installing it and checking it in your mod options menu, and then attempt to continue. Red Fog is the only part of the mod we've been able to reproduce the Pure Virtual errors with. That doesn't preclude it being caused by other things -- multiple things *can* cause it (throughout the XCOM 2 ecology), and it is poorly understood by everybody, including Firaxis.
