Re: More details on War of the Chosen

That's a great read, tons of new detail. They weren't lying, this is a much, much bigger expansion and overhaul of the game mechanics than was EW. Looks to be a lot of risk/reward choices to add tension to the gameplay. I won't mind if PI doesn't have LW2 adapted for WotC at launch, as it sure looks...

Re: What class color-coding do you use?

@OP, my scheme is pretty similar to yours, and for many of same (contrived) reasons. Assault: Red (#7, I think) Grenadier: Olive Green (#1) Gunner: Brown (#50, I think) Ranger: Khacki (#4 or 5, I think) Sharpshooter: Dark Blue (#35) Shinobi: Grey (#6) Specialist: White (bottom row, far left) Tech: B...

Re: The real war begins...

Since it's impossible to know until the 12th, I recommend we all instead resort to wild-ass crazy speculation and pie-in-the-sky wish-listing. While I'm sticking w/ my "TFTD" guess, I'd love to be wrong and learn that Humanity finally turns the tide and take the fight to the aliens on thei...

Re: The real war begins...

They teased TFTD in the outtro video after a victorious X2 campaign. Can't imagine why they'd have done that if they didn't intend to release a TFTD expansion. That's my guess.

Re: "Commander, we're generating no new supplies. We need to find a way to make Bradford shut up."

I don't mind the occasional nag on the Avenger too much. The sound byte that irritates the living shit out of me is the excessively long "panicking-soldier heavy breathing". Wears me out. Partially because it's too long, but also likely it has something to do with the fact that I'm already...

Re: Where am I going off-track?

Excellent and informative posts, everyone. I appreciate all the feedback. Very excited to try these out in a new campaign.

I was unaware the LW2 was supposed to be more difficult than Vanilla Legend. I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew playing on Veteran, but I'll give it a go.

Re: Where am I going off-track?

And last but not least, I have noticed that often times when one claims that they consider themselves a good or very good player, it is often a case of too much self-esteem. I have yet to see a Legendary player (even ones playing on Ironman) consider themselves good. Do not let your opinion of your...

Re: Where am I going off-track?

Guessing somewhat but it sounds like you're not doing enough missions. ... In my last campaign however, I was much more picky about missions. I tried to send 6 or 7. I thought I was doing ok. My first HQ late August was rough but then I didn't play it optimally. And then I found myself in September...

Re: Where am I going off-track?

Don't see anything obviously wrong with your strategic play, except maybe I would suggest using Mag Weapons by now. Did you research stiletto rounds? Those are also really strong, and available early. There is a difficulty spike around mid August, where suddenly you're fighting a lot of m3 advent a...

Where am I going off-track?

It's August 1, and another LW2 Veteran campaign is about to come to an unceremonious end. I was sailing along until July, feeling pretty good about things, and then hit a wall. Two squad-wipes in the past 5 missions (and a few soldier losses on the 3 successful ones) have left me with a team of inex...

Re: rocket spread info is missleading

The rocket scatter mechanic is, in my opinion, the one that puts you most at risk of squad wipe on the Alter of the RNG Gods(TM). Going loud with a rocket strike from concealment against a powerful enemy pod can put you on the fast track to Flawless... or sign your death certificate. With so few roc...

Why do I ALWAYS start in Asia?

I have started 67 XCom 2 campaigns. I have won 2, lost 1 and aborted 63. Probably 40 of the aborted campaigns were abandoned in-mission during Gatecrasher after suffering unacceptable losses (not wanting to start campaign behind the 8-ball). That leaves about 20-25 campaigns where I finished Gatecra...

A couple beginner 1.3 questions

I'm early May of my first 1.3 campaign and have a couple questions. 1. Is there any benefit to infiltrating an "Extremely Light" mission past 100%? I know there is no enemy strength level below that, but is it possible that infiltrating to 150% might make the number of enemies drop from 9 ...

Re: Alien sight mechanics and breaking LOS

Is enemy knowledge of a soldier's position completely "binary" (meaning they know with 100% or 0% certainty) or can they make educated guesses, same as we do? Example: We have LOS to an enemy. That enemy breaks LOS and runs behind a tall obstacle, but we don't see them emerge on the other ...

Sorry, "imminent" is a relative term, I guess. I have no knowledge beyond what others have said. However, I read somewhere that JL indicated that a request for crowd-sourced translations is a good indicator that the release is near. Such a request was posted to this forum 9 days ago. So th...

I don't really have anything to say.

Just like the subject says, I don't have anything useful to contribute to this forum right now. However, I am so excited for the LW2 1.3 release that I want to be a part of the conversation so badly ! So I'm going to contrive something pointless, just to introduce myself and give me something to do ...

Very best of luck!

LWS team -- I'm a developer (Java, though, not C) and I was absolutely stunned when I saw what you were able to accomplish with the LW mod. I can't even fathom the effort it must have taken to decompile and break out the game source and assets, let alone implementing all of the game-changing design ...
