Re: Gunners Builds
Depends if he can shoot. If yes, then you want centre mass and chain shot. If no, you want grazing fire and formidable/mayhem and probably saturation fire rather than rapid/traverse fire. Lockdown should be a good pick for some builds but I have to take Hail of Bullets every time on every build. Gua...

Re: Thoughts on Kubikiri?
It should trigger DfA. Watch the distinction in the language: "killing an enemy with your rifle" vs "taking a standard shot". The reference to 'standard' means no ability-based special attacks.Does double tap trigger Death from Above or is it only normal shots?

Re: Thoughts on Kubikiri?
Pretty sure it's flanked and exposed targets against which you would ordinarily get a flanking bonus. So you get it on an exposed trooper but not against enemies that don't use cover like MECs etc.Hunters targeting only applies on flanks, and not on exposed targets.

Re: Psi Ops still suck?
I always thought to be worthwhile it needed 100% to hit and then psi/will simply affects the relative likelihood of the different results.I have found insanity at early/mid game to have a very low hit chance.

Re: Thoughts on Kubikiri?
I think it will be great once it's fixed in 1.2. You need to crit stack your sharp pretty thoroughly but that's very doable. And it then because of the cooldown, there is synergy with Prec Shot, which also benefits from crit stacking. One disadvantage is that a lot of big targets are hardened / don'...

Re: Allow Tactical Dark Event to be shutdownable
Particularly the bonus HP, bonus defence and Rapid Reinforcement ones I see complained about a lot. Wait, rapid reinforcement is temporary right? RIGHT? Yes it's really tough. I am managing so far but on some missions it could make things unwinnable, e.g. if you had this active and got one of those...

Re: What's up with damage to relays?
that this is intentionally as to make it harder to snipe relays Well for one thing, I don't see why as it seems a perfectly legit strategy that is in keeping with other missions set up to allow sneaky tactics. But if it is intended to make it harder to take out relays in this way, then it still nee...

Re: What's up with damage to relays?
If it's graze band, then a) that shouldn't happen and b) I shouldn't be able to crit either. Unless you want special shot attacks like precision shot to do extra damage, which would make sense.

Also when I opened this tab I was half-expecting to see someone advocating missions like "recover a nice silver cream jug for your parents' wedding anniversary".

Re: LW2 needs more "middle class" missions
I dunno. I play on Commander and I find 2-man missions way too risky unless it's a really important one. Seems like unless you hit 200% infiltration you'll have a 4-turn extraction. That's a long time to try to stay alive when there's almost certainly pods active. I had my only mission failure so fa...

What's up with damage to relays?
Not sure if this is a bug or a feature. If it's a feature it should probably be more transparent. So I was doing the Liberation 3 'destroy the relay'. I was trying to be sneaky and managed to get my sharpshooter in place with her ballistic sniper rifle with shinobi spotting for her. My strategy was ...

Re: Psi Ops still suck?
Sounds like they are kind of OK but if they aren't better than regular soldiers, why bother with the big investment in research / power / supply / cores / scientist to get it going? I feel it should be like gauss rushing in LW1: the opportunity cost of the slow-burn investment makes a later phase of...

Re: Flamethrower boost
Inclined to agree it could do with either its range or its damage back. Doing average 3.5 damage to mid game enemies is pretty meh. Yes it's mainly about the status effects but at the end of the day it's a flamethrower not a flashbang. And even with an smg I find few opportunities to burn more than ...

So there's no point doing a tough one of these as an assassination unless it's a liberation mission?

Re: Liberation Cycle.. revealed
Thanks, this is really helpful. Question: What happens if you kill the Dark VIP on a liberation mission? Does it count for keeping the cycle going? I just had one of these (no idea if liberation based) and the sneaky bastard was hiding upstairs, which I didn't realise until too late. I also screwed ...

Sorry, this is v1.1 on PC with no additional mods.
Don't have save game but I've seen it whenever that situation has arisen.

Flamer not showing hit at point blank
Love the flamer changes. Just noticed a display bug though: a target at point blank will not be highlighted to indicate it will be affected, although it will in fact be affected correctly if it's in the cone.

Re: Convoy defence - what just happened?
@Devon_v Thanks for the tip but are there are any warning signs I didn't pick up on? Like does 'unknown' always mean a swarming? And can high vigilance lead to boosts in the grade of enemy you see, i.e. those heavy MECs and drones? I also got my first viper serpens and archer MEC on that mission. Wa...

Re: Should I play the Vamilla game first before long war 2 ?
I'd say go straight for LW2. It's just better. In particular it's better balanced so there is no walkover strategy.
Caveats: it is not a casual experience, you have to not mind losing, it is long, it is complicated.
Play 1 or 2 difficulties below what you think would be right for vanilla.

Re: Convoy defence - what just happened?
Presumably vigilance was very high and it was a mistake to think I could divert attention by switching from Intel to supply. My issue is more the 'unknown' force rating, plus the incredibly high force level for an apparently crucial mission, plus the unprecedented spike in reinforcement pod size and...

Re: Feature Request: "Remove all upgrades from unequipped weapons"
Second this request. Would save me forgetting the first couple of missions after an upgrade. Also I often want to rejig based on squad builds. E.g. on a non-timed mission my snipers might get the scopes that my rangers would otherwise use. And suppressors just generally.

Convoy defence - what just happened?
This just happened and it seemed rather unfair. Please tell me what I did wrong. I got a convoy defence. Just after an data defence which was fairly toothless. This said enemy strength unknown. So I couldn't know what was about to happen. The mission seemed tough but doable as the reinforcement wave...

Re: "Find A Lead" Mission Explaination
Is there anything in-game that tells you which bits you've done and what you need to do next? There is terminology on here like 'point of interest' that has passed me by completely. So all I know is the mission rewards that say something cryptic are related to liberation (probably) but I don't know ...

Re: Upcoming Flamethrower Improvements
Did it need the balancing debuff to damage?
I thought the idea was to improve the flamethrower and make it more attractive to a) take some flamer perks, and b) take risks to get into position for a good flaming.

Re: AWC strategies
Greed mainly. But also - I went AWC before GTS, which meant most of my rookies ranked up by missions, i.e. they got random classes. As a result, I have a lot of soldiers who aren't good as their archetypes like low aim snipers/rangers and low mobility assaults. Now, this isn't a catastrophe in LW be...
