Re: Announcement regarding LW2+WotC
WotC brought in some awesome engine improvements. I would be happy if someone was just able to let us play LW2 as it is in WotC improved engine. I don't even need any of the other "gameplay improvements" WotC brought. Mostly because I consider them inferior.

Re: LW2 with both Infiltration & Fatigue Right Now
Sounds like an irritating mod that makes fun parts (longer battles) of LW2 not fun anymore. If I want a game that forces me to kill enemies in one turn instead of delay them with flashbangs and smokes I can play WotC instead.

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce
I am sure to not buy the expansion until there is a LW2 version for it. I cannot go back to Xcom 2 vanilla experience, even with a few new weapons and enemies. All I read about the expansion does not excite me much and it is not worth going back to explosive meta and terrible geoscape mechanics. Als...

Re: Strategic help needed
You said you tried doing it with an 8-man squad, right? That means your base infiltration was >8 days. If you had tried infiltrating a 5-man squad you would have been over 100%. Maybe but I had no idea what awaited me and I certainly didn't expect this shit I got. I don't want to poke the bear but ...

Re: Strategic help needed
I had 63% infiltration with using Intel Boost. I was nowhere near to 100%. This was a Supply Raid in May and best one yet, I skipped all previous Supply Raids and Troop Columns (which I only got two even with having two regions full on Intel for a long time). You said you tried doing it with an 8-m...

Re: Strategic help needed
I spent some time going through the mission schedules to see where the breakpoints were for the supply raids. Here's a general idea of what to expect. Keep in mind that supply raids have a +1 alert modifier, so the minimum alert is always 2. If the region strength is > 1 then you can overinfiltrate...

Re: Strategic help needed
Do a lot of missions. Alien research always goes at exactly the same speed, while XCOM progress is based on how many missions you do. The ideal is to have every soldier in your barracks either infiltrating a mission, training in a facility, or working as a haven advisor. If you can keep 3 simultane...

(1.3) Permanent disorient bug
I just had a mission where my soldier was stuck being permanently disoriented.
The soldier (Grenadier) got mind controlled by a Sectoid. I had him flashbanged so he cannot grenade my other troops. After MC ran out he continued to be disoriented for the rest of the mission.

Re: Strategic help needed
If a Supply Raid pops and it doesn't let you at least fully infiltrate a group of 5 (say those Very Light to Light, or 6 soldiers for Moderate) with intel boost, just assume they never popped in the first place. SnG seems to me to be an easier source of income. SnG does not give you bodies for rese...

Re: Strategic help needed
And how is one supposed to have a 100% infiltration for supply raid (I even used an intel boost)? As I said, it seems this is now a mission that exists for no real reason. Bad balance

OK, my commander 1.3 run was doing well until I just got murdered in a supply raid mission in May. Mission had 63% infiltration (Heavy), Strength 1 region. Send 8 guys inside and got met by fucking Muton Centurions, Advanced Mecs and shit. WTF?! 2nd pack had those. 1st pack was 8 with nothing especi...

Re: I miss hard timers
Oh my god stop saying the reinforcements are "more realistic". Did you miss the part where every single time the timer is mentioned it specifically says things like "ALIEN INTERCEPTORS ARE INBOUND TO YOUR LOCATION". Interceptors, not dropships . The timer represents the ability ...

Re: I miss hard timers
I must be the odd one but I liked the system of hard timers much better than what we have in 1.3 now. Sure having increasingly more plentiful and powerful reinforcements is sorta more realistic than an immediate mission failure, but the timer becomes completely obsolete in many missions. Why show m...

Hurr durr.. it is not called Xcom. But it will play similarly (well more like LW2 with a more complex geoscape).Franzy wrote:Wow... It looks nothing like XCOM at all!

Re: Enemies shooting at Xcom while bound by Vipers
I think that aliens SHOULD fire at a bound enemy, since that is the smart thing to do. About as smart as firing at the stunned target while you still have another six uncontrolled aliens to kill. Admittedly making the AI weight properly the usefulness of controlling XCOM is probably hard It depends...

Re: Is the 'Beagle maneuver' still cheap?
I used this a lot when I figured out it works on green alert. Maybe some late game options are better but early game and mid game this is best way to kill the first pod. I also use it on Supply Raids and Troop Column assaults to kill the first big pod super easily.

Re: Enemies shooting at Xcom while bound by Vipers
Because of this behaviour Vipers have become my #1 target in all battles. I tend to either kill or Flashbang all vipers at end of turn. I lost two guys to this and learned my lesson. Mutons will grenade some guys, micro missiles cannot break cover anymore, drone's stun only removes 2 turns and can b...

Re: PSA use assaults for stealth missions you can't lose.
Doesn't this make it impossible to actually capture VIPs? In any case, I don't see this as that big of an issue when a Shinobi with Covert and Ghostwalker can reduce sight range so much that he can stand right next to a VIP and not break concealment. Kidnapping instead of killing VIPs are hard enou...

Re: Yellow Alert Offensive Action
Both these cases are example of the really unfair side of this mechanic. But in most cases it is manageable. (Still would take mind control out of the yellow alert actions imo :D ) Sectoids don't have mind control. They got one ability that randomly choose between Mind control/disorient/panic. Your...

Re: Feedback from no <50% infil campaign
Good post! Matches my experience on a lot of points. 1) They're the most efficient in terms of 'bang for your buck'. If I do a Stun Lancer autopsy, I get an upgraded sword for my Shinobi; that boosts one of the attack modes out of 1 of the 8 classes. If I get Combat Armour, I get Predator Armour, w...

Re: Yellow Alert Offensive Action
In OG XCOM once you started making noise any enemy on the map could just walk up and shoot you at any time. Huh? In OG XCOM all enemies would start active, and they would often decimate your squads. But that didn't matter because it was acceptable and expected to lose entire squads routinely. You c...
