Re: If we'll get LW for WoTC, can we have (much) less concealment in it?

Yeah, I get it that other approach to stealth might be "make it more interesting", but remember, that someone has to implement all the extras. And then balance them. Mods like "better stealth" only highlight one of the biggest problem further: the AI can't fight concealment, and ...

Re: If we'll get LW for WoTC, can we have (much) less concealment in it?

Re : LW1. You didn't play a Scout with Hit and Run and Mimetic Skin or an Assault with Mimetic Skin and Close Combat Specialist did you? I did. Then I (and many others) complained on nexus forums about it being a balance breach. Then they nerfed Mimetic Skin to the ground, and it was a right decisi...

Re: If we'll get LW for WoTC, can we have (much) less concealment in it?

Is this actually such a Problem that the game feels unbalanced to you? It's not a balance issue. Pavonis' team tried to balance concealment, and did a reasonably good job at it. But ultimately it's still not very fun to play: AI can't deal with your invisible soldiers, playing pure stealth is outri...

Re: If we'll get LW for WoTC, can we have (much) less concealment in it?

Maybe you're just too good for the game. I get blown out of concealment constantly by drones and resurrected dead soldiers. Tap of the hat to you. If you keep your scout a good distance away from your team and in a corner cover (cover towards the unknown and towards your team's position), then it n...

If we'll get LW for WoTC, can we have (much) less concealment in it?

One of the things that I very much dislike about XCOM2 (both vanilla and LW2) is how the game handles scouting from concealment, and basically gives you a choice between not fighting with this soldier to keep scouting or going out of concealment to fight. This, in my opinion, turned out to be an ext...

All hero classes are "insanely OP" in WoTC. Especially so with right extra perks. But then again, your normal soldiers with right extra perks are "insanely OP" as well.

Re: Dissolving the hero classes into LW2: A proposal

I pretty much agree with the general assessment that there's significant overlap of roles between existing LW2 classes and WoTC stuff - however, in my opinion, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's WoTC stuff that has to go. It took LW1 a great deal of time to balance out all of its normal soldier...

Re: Infiltration vs fatigue

If the micromanagement on setting up squads becomes even worse, I just worry I'd spend more time on load-outs than in missions. Adding weapon repair to balance the amount of gear without infiltrations to limit it would just make that even more atrocious. I can't see how fatigue can make it "wo...

Re: Infiltration vs fatigue

3) How many regions should be on full-intel to spawn missions? 4) How many copies of bleeding edge equipment should be made? The infiltration system brings a lot of headaches, but it brings more to the table than you give it credit for. Some of which you may not care for or 'need'. Yeah, but it's n...

Re: Infiltration vs fatigue

Infiltration, on the other hand, forces me to plan ahead, and provides me with the numbers I need to do so. Yeah, I initially thought so too. Then reality happened: 1) Most of the time I have no idea when an emergency (or a better mission opportunity) is going to hit - and it is outright not possib...

Re: Infiltration vs fatigue

Disagreed: even 'no corpse' missions offer EXP and mission rewards. Intel, Facility Leads, Scientists, Liberation chains - they come in much faster if you regularly do low-infiltration missions (with minimal wounds). With 1.5 letting MSGTs share mission EXP, all the more reason to power level snipe...

Re: Infiltration vs fatigue

Well, as I mentioned in the first point, some kind of "mission forecast" will be great to have (even researchable and/or improvable with research). LW1 worked by meta-gaming knowledge - go read the wiki and you'll have some ideas about how many missions may happen in a month (especially ea...

Re: Infiltration vs fatigue

... Fatigue works on a "do actions, get fatigued" basis (as one would naturally expect). So indeed, slow OW creep will leave your soldiers much more fatigued than quick dashes & flank shots. Assuming that you're reckless just enough to not get your people killed, of course. It essenti...

Infiltration vs fatigue

Some people already discussed the ways to integrate WoTC in LW, and one popular idea seems to be "fatigue is not needed, we have infiltration". Well, I'd like to present the opposite idea here - in my opinion, it's the infiltration system that is (mostly) not needed, since fatigue system h...

Re: Feedback after Commander campaign

Yeah, Insanity is better for the long run, but it has the same issues - it works well only if you push it past certain breakpoints and do so early enough. It stays there as a reliable snake-leash, but for other enemies (even advent) you have to stack psi offense a lot or you're going to live with lo...

Psionics: (I used the fan patch to fix the Solace bug). Way, way better, possibly too much. Lots of powers that were awful as yellow moves are now fantastic as blue moves. Insanity is well named, because it's insane  Mass psions can cast Insanity every turn, and then still do something else. I...

Only anti-dodge part of it. You can edit XComLW_SoldierSkills.ini and change DP_ANTIDODGEBONUS into DP_ANTIDODGE_BONUS to unbug it.

Re: Many thanks for improved mission balance in 1.4

I don't think avoiding retals is obviously good? I assume you mean hiding rebels, but there is a large opportunity cost. The retals aren't too hard once you learn how to do them. I've lost like 9 rebels total by oct on legendary. Not necessarily there's a large opportunity cost. While it's always b...

Many thanks for improved mission balance in 1.4

I know it's a little bit late, but I've spend some good amount of hours on 1.4 only recently. And I have to say - now the spread between mostly-stealth and mostly-combat missions feels quite right. Not to mention that thanks to relaxed hard timers, guerilla ops can often be played as combat missions...

Re: 23 enemies RNF in a single turn

In all cases of full retaliations, you're on a very tight timer, and it's always a question of how much you can protract the action to save some more rebels. So yes, at some turn it'll come to huge clumps of RNFs. So what?

"Experienced" rebels on full retal missions

...can they be made more useful? On specific retals, their perks can actually make a noticeable difference, but on full retal they aren't any different than no-perk rebels. Is it too hard and not worth it to make them carry a pistol or SMG by default (with slight increase in retal difficulty to comp...

Re: What class color-coding do you use?

Although I used strict color-coding in LW1, I never felt the need of doing so in XCOM2/LW2. On the mission, there aren't as many soldiers as in LW1, and it's much harder to lose sight on who does what. Still, I always keep my specialists distinct ( green-ish , with no other class using green at all)...

A reasonably easy (but not necessarily fun) way to improve the distribution is to allow black market to sell certain corpses, based on current FL. I believe it was even discussed quite a lot a few months ago.

Yes, it's quite possible to detect a mission in about ~1 hour after it was generated, provided you've generated intel beforehand and got a bit lucky.
