That's a good question that seems to me to be situational. If you were to do no other missions and just fish for the Jailbreak it could be worth it. An ability should be nerfed once it makes other abilities or opening moves infererior. I disagree. Or at least, that is not the only reason for a change. An ability should be nerfed if it is so powerful, it throws the balance of the game off. That being said, I don't think faceoff desperately needs...

I think with the right tweeks to amo for pistols, they could easily be balanced. As I was told, every change in the job means the loss of a day, so you need to evaluate in wich point of GOp progress you caught the mission. I mean if the GOp is going to respawn in your Intel region in less than 2 days it doesn't worth to lose 12 days*rebel*job plus 6hours avenger, but if you cau...

it's not abnormal for one soldier's pistol perks to be dealing 45 damage in a turn as you enter the latter stages of the game, and earlier on in the game abilities like lightning hands, clutch shot, and fanfire are extremely strong. IMO, famethrower opening beats this 9 times out of 10. You can very often damage 5-8 enemies and have at least half of them burning, thus rendering them useless for 2 turns. Wait a minute I am confused.... isn't the entire middle column of the AWC dedicated to pistol perks only? Like I'm pretty sure if you train a soldier all the way down the middle you will have all of the OP pistol perks like fan fire, quick draw, lightning hands and face off. Correct me if I'm wrong...

You can increase the maximum avatar pips in the ini files. I don't know where, but it was explained in this forum somewhere.

I play with the True Concealment mod... and the last such mission I had I took _39_ turns. At no point was there a window to hack without aliens in LOS; the close-in pod literally walked the same two paths for the entire 36 turns I could see them... start directly behind the truck, walk one turn's ...
