In the original Long War, medics were useful because they could heal a soldier's armor hit points, which were a lot like ablative in this game. This meant that if you healed soldiers before they took actual HP damage, you were much less likely to see wounds after a fight. Perhaps a similar approach...

I had a UFO hunting me, and just completed my first liberation, and now the UFO is gone. But I'm suspicious, is it really gone? I don't see it in the list of active dark events either.

I think the only rookie I'm not willing to give a random class, is ones with 13 mobility. Those have to become sharpshooters or suicide rookies. I really disagree that DFA is OP, from an L/I perspective. It's a good perk, and DFA sharpshooters are competitive with other classes in the mid and late game. Should get advanced lasers before armor. From your description I'd guess you're getting into long fights, trying to control enemies. Instead I suggest making your first priority to kill everything the turn you meet it. Think of every turn as a little puzzle, figuring out how to deal maximum damage. ...
