Re: To what degree can dark events break a campaign
The real queen bitch is in Counterintelligence Sweep, which makes almost every mission slip by you for a fuckin' month. Don't ever let that one happen or it really is game over. That will mostly hurt you on the small havens trying to do Intel job and only lasts a bit more than 2 weeks. Also it does...

Re: Supply Missions
Vigilance is hidden by design, so you can only guess, successful missions increase it, propaganda missions increase it a lot, I think all or most liberation missions increase vigilance higher than normal. Vigilance decreases with time, the less rebels working (hiding), the faster it decreases, the m...

Re: Supply Missions
Reliably? No, but it goes like this: - Get a region with over 10 rebels (not a hard cap). The more the better. Everyone on intel job. Also use Avenger scan. - Spike vigilance to get the ADVENT AI to move troops to it. Propaganda missions work best. Bunch of missions + Liberation chain works too. Thi...

Re: a few newbie questions
You really shouldn't be researching Datapads so early, and definitively you shouldn't be using supplies to buy them. On the contrary, you probably should be selling them all. You get 5 (?) after a you liberate a region, and later when you buy Vulture you'll get even more. Your supplies should be goi...

Re: L/I Victory Campaign Summary
Had the almost the same exact experience, except I went Laser instead of EXO first to get the Sharpshooters, Rangers and OW Specialists "online" quicker. Pretty convinced rush-buying Scientists is "the way" on Legendary, instead of rushing GTS/AWS, which you can go without.

Re: Help ! No Status ...
Yes that's a bug. You'd probably get a quicker and better response if you had created this thread in the Bug Reports forum. Anyways, don't take my word for it, but I think these kind of bugs are fatal to the character and you'll have to create a new one. Thankfully there're console commands that let...

Re: Combatives fix
The graze could still stun:2 you or put you unconcious. My guess is, if you ever plan to use this skill, you would need the Shinobi to have both high natural HP, the best vest you can muster and at least combat armor. No more 3hp rookies going for blade Shinobi.

Re: Let's talk Gunner
You can't really make the Suppression playstyle viable unless you get some flex on the RNF schedules, otherwise slowing down the fights is shooting yourself in the foot if you're gonna be fighting +3 and then +4 enemies that you otherwise wouldn't by taking a class that's better at killing enemies, ...

Why do that when Assaults almost always move before shooting? Giving up one of Laser-Autoloader-Magazine/Supp doesn't seem worth it IMO.RookieAutopsy wrote:I use stocks on Assaults because they are not always in a position to fire but I agree it would be nice if it was a single AP non-turn ending action.

Just move on to the next best thing, until it gets nerfed too. I'm moving towards more Assaults, which are still awesome and my guess for "next to be nerfed".

I rag on Psi, but Stasis would be the goto solution in my mind for dealing with Cyberballs, and it'd be great against sectopods too. If anyone has other tactics that work, I'd like to hear them. Maybe spreading your soldiers out so it's AI chooses not to use it's giant AOE attack, which btw Suppres...

Re: Combatives fix
I guess Corporal is gonna suck for Shinobis. It's either Shadowstep, which is... Ehh... Executioner, which is... Ehh... Or +10 dodge with a melee counterattack that comes with a slight chance of getting butchered.

Re: Let's talk Gunner
I don't think anyone is questioning the usefulness of Gunners as a control option, in the long missions. The main problem (for me) is that in the current metagame the majority of the missions you'll play are GOps with a turn limitation, be it hard timers or soft timers (RNF), and that being the case...

Re: Faceless detection when rotating out the haven advisor?
As I understood it, it doesn't reset, but taking out or replacing the advisor is like switching rebel jobs, you don't get points toward detection for a day (or until the end of that day, I dunno).

Not really. Could have been a Sidewinder (flanky snake), those come with Shadowstep so they don't trigger reaction fire.

What I'd like is the Suppression effect to be stronger further down the skill tree. As in, effects of Suppression stay whether they run it or not, at like MSGT. Or some kind of Covering Fire for Area Suppression targets.

Re: v1.4 Officer Skills and Tricky Tradeoffs
Yeah, but why would you ever want to have your high aim shooter, doing something else other than shooting? The officer's most important job is giving up his last action so that someone else gets an action. It's important that said action is better than the one you just gave up. Giving up a Ranger's ...

Re: Let's talk Gunner
Does anyone ever take gunners over rangers? Mostly in long missions without a time limit where you can bring +5 soldiers, but mostly when I just can't do any better, as in, I want my whole barracks to be busy and it's either take a Gunner as as 5th or go with 4. Hell I have an easier time finding a...

Skills that seem to be autopick for me: (Assault) Lightning Reflexes : At least on Legendary the amount of overwatches you'll be facing is crazy. With this you get rid of them for free. (Grenadier) Volatile Mix : the only source of +radius. (Grenadier) Full Kit : the other two are very situational. ...

Re: Let's talk Gunner
Why bother taking a shooter Gunner anways, Crit Ranger shoots as many times, earlier in the game, with better aim and crit bonuses, with a gun that always comes earlier in the tech progression. Shred? I can manage with HEAT, Shredstorm, Focus Fire, ammo, etc. Base damage? Not when you crit on 1/3 of...
