Re: Alien Hate Loss from Hab Destruction

I'd still like to see the save. "Hate" isn't supposed to be a variable you can directly manage; it's not reasonably knowable in the game universe with any specificity. I know a lot of players who know about the specifics of the mechanic try to minmax it but the game's intent is you play i...

Re: Alien Hate Loss from Hab Destruction

You're welcome to shoot us a save where one of your habs gets popped by the aliens and we can watch what the code does with it. support@pavonisinteractive.com I don't think its a bug, from further investigation I am losing the minimum 1 hate from each hab destruction. It's just a lot less than the ...

Alien Hate Loss from Hab Destruction

I haven't played the same for about a year, and I have noticed some new/odd behavior on the latest stable patch (0.3.99). Previously, driving alien hate over 50 prior to the total war deadline would result in hate loss for every hab they destroyed. On the current patch, they still attack my habs but...

Re: Defeating Alien Ship Before ResearchTheirOrigins

The salvage objective triggered fine and the tech unlocked once I researched the Alien Origins, it was just somewhat confusing. (There was a weird bug where the salvage objective message triggered twice, but it was only cosmetic.)

Defeating Alien Ship Before ResearchTheirOrigins

I recently played a game in which I ignored the "Alien Origins" tech, and thus ended up defeating a alien warship before unlocking the SalvageAlienWarship objective. This led to exotics tech not being unlocked despite looting the alien destroyer. Is this intended behavior? Are there other ...

Re: Neutral AI nuking?

Russia starting a nuclear war over some random country in Africa is pretty silly even if he should have removed them as a threat sooner. A Russia who was deeply penetrated by the Servants ? Far less unlikely. Servant Russia doing it is more reasonable, but this topic is for Neutral AI. i.e. not con...

Re: Neutral AI nuking?

I get it. You're incompetent. You were expecting an alien invasion, but had done *none* of the prep work of going 'If they invade *here*, what is our contingency plan ?', and then you had done no work to prepare for it. The Aliens invaded in Africa, and you didn't have a plan and you scrambled. You...

What I trying to express is that the game intitial settting and mechinsm has greatly limit China's protential in a conflict with Alien. I disagress with the idea that: This is a common misunderstanding from a foriegn perspective. They certainly don't know the history why the PLA is formed and why t...

Re: Critique of Mid-to-Late Game Progression, by SillySMS

I followed this thread now for a while and as I recently finished an Initiative / Veteran run I thought to post my 2 cents in here. Some timeline of that run: 4 / 2035 started researching phasers: 91/231 MC (all earthbound), 8.3k monthly research (daily 130 from Nations, 55 Habs, 65 distribution) 5...

Re: Critique of Mid-to-Late Game Progression, by SillySMS

I think that 1, 4, 5, and 8 are the most important parts. 1, 4. I already play the game this way as a self imposed challenge, and it massively mitigates (but doesn't entirely solve) the other problems. I would make research centers provide a small % bonus to all earth research, not a flat bonus. For...

Re: Some Suggestions about Nations & AI balance issue

Needing to prune some servant councilors and otherwise stage a complex espionage campaign to take over a large country is basically working as intended, so far as I can tell. The earth game would be even more boring in the late game if all espionage was reduced to "roll opinion dice until thres...

Re: [Suggestion] comprehensive rework of mission system

I find the mission system to work really well so long as I have an actual Earth surface goal to focus on. It mostly loses steam when I am either 1. Waiting for CP techs, hate reduction, federation cooldown, etc. before actively taking countries or attacking enemies. 2. Late enough in the game to hav...

Re: Gameplay Suggestion: Ship Building From Earth Surface

I would definitely agree with this - facilities ought to be 'bombardable' from Orbit, absolutely they should. We can use Councillors to sabotage projects, so why can the technically superior (at the start, anyway) Aliens not be capable of Orbital Bombardment of large, obviously hostile construction...

Re: [0.3.45] Base Assault - From one extreme to another .... ?

i actually don't mind that change too much, as i can live with the aliens having some mining bases on asteroids. they usually don't have shipyards there, so clearing the stations should be enough to keep fast reinforcements away. And at least that way the Aliens have some resources in late game. Wh...

Re: [0.3.45] Base Assault - From one extreme to another .... ?

At least this ensures that missile research has a purpose in late game, I guess? I think that marine assaults were much more satisfying than suicide nuke escorts though.

Re: Gameplay Suggestion: Ship Building From Earth Surface

Re: Gameplay Suggestion: Ship Building From Earth Surface

However, the whole idea is moot unless Earth has Space Defense facilities built because, as you rightly noticed, aliens would just bombard facilities that construct these ships. The player could build orbital defense sites in regions containing the launch facilities to counter alien bombardment. IM...

Re: Gameplay Suggestion: Ship Building From Earth Surface

But that brings up an interesting point as to what is the damage of the basic Boost resource? As it is resources sent into space from Earth. Because it's not being used in quantities sufficient for multi-thousand ton starships, it's abstracted out. You can feasibly use boost to lift the materials u...

Re: What`s with late game joke drives(torches)?

You can substantially reduce the radiator mass by using the best exotic based reactors. It's still expensive, but makes it usable. How many ships can you actually build with those, considering the exotics cost? The exotics cost is lower than it looks because the cost is per-ton, and highest tier ex...

Re: 40% chance to unlock

I looked at the code, and it works like so. Each project has an initial chance to unlock for further consideration. If you fail this chance, you are out of luck. Your chances are equal to the displayed percentage, plus the 10% Autonomous Research Group bonus (if you have it), plus the average % cont...

Re: 40% chance to unlock

When I unlock something that unlocks a lot of projects 100% of the time, they don't all appear instantly, but I think they all appear during the next two or three turns. Once you unlock the prerequisites for a project it has an initial unlock chance which increases every month until it hits its max...

Re: Gameplay Suggestion: Ship Building From Earth Surface

You wouldn't necessarily need the ships to have >1g acceleration. They could be launched using some sort of booster stage. Rather than having a fixed limit on number of ships being fixed, it could be limited by the large money and boost costs. I do think this would be helpful in preventing "sof...
