Unity/C# Developer

Pavonis Interactive has an opening for a remote Unity/C# developer to work on our grand strategy alien invasion game Terra Invicta. This is an open-ended hourly contract position, with an expected workload of 160 to 180 hours a month and the possibility for full-time employment if you are located in the state of Colorado.

We're looking for an experienced developer with an affinity for strategy and 4X games. We need someone who is confident they can jump right in and start chasing bugs and developing features on our roadmap as we move from Early Access and toward final release.

Contract rate begins at $28 an hour, can go higher depending on prior experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Locate and resolve outstanding bugs in code
  • Develop gameplay features as assigned
  • Maintain and improve level of code quality and performance
  • Communicate with team lead and designer to plan and manage estimates
  • Self-manage time to reach time-sensitive goals

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of C#/Unity
  • Comfortable working with the ECS and OOP design patterns
  • Comfortable using a Git-based version-control system
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Enthusiasm for strategy and management simulations and/or 4X games
  • Good understanding of Newtonian physics and linear vector math

Bonus:

  • Experience with Unity's Job System
  • Experience developing grand strategy games

Part-Time VFX and Technical Artist

Pavonis Interactive has an opening for a remote VFX and technical artist to work on our grand strategy alien invasion game Terra Invicta. This is an open-ended hourly contract position.

Contract rate begins at US $28 an hour, can go higher depending on prior experience. Expect between 10 and 20 hours per week based on need and what ideas we come up with to improve the game.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new visual FX, including comet trails, urban lighting visible from space, and aurorae
  • Develop, modify, and debug shaders
  • Assist in optimization of game's graphical systems in Unity
  • Propose and implement new VFX and shaders to enchance the player experience
  • Help with debugging in reported player issues related to video cards, drivers, and graphics settings.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Unity, particularly the Unity Particle System
  • Able to code and debug shaders
  • Comfortable using a Git-based version-control system
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
