seeking simple way to open .u files

I am not a modder, I have no previous modding experiance, my computer teacher don't even try to care about me when I was studying programming (because I suck so much). However, I want to try to find ways to open those .u file and learn their codes so I can really make changes in a mod rather than just edit in the config.ini-s. I tried to find tutorials about opening .u file on internet but everything is just too complicated for me. Therefore, I hereby humbly ask for a simple way to do that. Please. Thank you
