I'm playing Version 1.3 of the mod, loving it so far, and I came across this situation on a Rescue mission.

The Map border cuts off the rear end of the Advent Convoy so I can't reach the back to open it. I attempted to blow up one of the sides with grenades, but grenades do reduced structural damage so it didn't help.

I guess the only thing to do is to run back to the evac point without the VIP since I physically can't get to him.

Do you happen to still have a save from this mission? We suspect this is a map error but don't know which one in particular you had on your mission.
