Recruit Raid without Rebel spawn

Post by Dwarfling »

Version: 1.2
Additional mods: FLANKPREVIEW, PERFECTINFORMATION, STOPWASTINGMYTIME
Saves: yes

Resume: I got this Recruitment Raid. It spawns no rebels to escort. Not close to the spawn. Nowhere. Moving a soldier with TTC to the evac zone also doesn't let XCOM evacuate.

How it went: I tried my best with a less than ideal squad, thinking the mission was fine but got quickly overwhelmed by all the pods in the map walking into me while I was pinned in the spawning zone. The result was a squad wipe, so I quit and went to bed. Anyways, right now I tried moving my last man alive with the TTC command trying to search for the personnel, but they didn't seem to have spawned at all. Next up I decided to move the soldier to the evac zone, it doesn't let you evac. In my frenzy to see if it ending turns could improve the situation I overwrote the saves before doing the TTC, so I can't confirm TTC broke it or not.

If I restart the mission, two pods get a turn at XCOM. And still no rebel personnel to evac seems to spawn.

Save 1: before restarting, after doing TTC and letting some turns pass. http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/660008/save116
Save 2: after restarting. Still no personnel. Aliens get aa free go at my guys. http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/660006/save115

Thanks for the report and the saves. There is a bug here in finding spawn tiles for the rebels, so they ended up not being placed. I have a fix for this for 1.3. Restarting won't help, because you'll always start on the same spawn point, and it will never be able to find a place to put the rebels.

In the meantime, you can sort-of salvage this mission by using the console, but it may accidentally kill the rebels that were supposed to be on the mission but didn't make it, thinking they were killed or abandoned.

First, spawn a rebel unit: Move the cursor to a free tile and run "\DropUnit Rebel"
Next, enable the evac ability: "\EnableGlobalAbility Evac"
Evac the rebel, and then the mission should continue as usual by despawning the evac zone and setting up a new evac timer for the soldier evac. It's important to spawn and evac the rebel so that the mission can be considered a win, although the one you drop is a nobody random rebel and not one that is actually in your haven.

If you find some rebels are missing from your haven after the mission you can add more with "\LWAddRebel false <RegionName>"
