First Impression on 1.3 some starting tips

Post by Navil »

Hi commanders,
Hell 1.3 is great imo. Great work Pavonis. I started my 1.3 campaign on Legend and its great. I love this Smash and grab missions.
Here is my starting tips:
1.Build Guerrilla Tactics building 1st, research resistance radio so u can expand.
2.Scan with avenger and 6 on intel until u get 2 Guerrilla Ops, u cant get now Propaganda in the 1st month, so u will get most likely VIP and jail break or Hack data.
3.After u get 1st 2 missions go expand.
4.After u get u 2nd region scan there for missions, after u get 2 missions, go scan Black Market.
My 1st 4 missions was jail break, VIP escort, Data hack and SaG.

Heaven management;
after i get 2 Guerrilla missions in one region i leave only 2 on intel and all others on recruit. when i do the 1st mission i put all on intel again.
I red somewhere that SaG require 90 rebel income (intel before u can get the mission). One rebel rank 0 nets u 5 intel per day. So with (6x5 + 4x5)x1,2=60intel per day with avenger and the tower in u starting region. SaG has 9+4 days Duration, and u need like 3-4 days to detect it, so u will get like 6 days on average left to do the mission. That's a 5 man squad. Even with only 4 rebels on intel i got 4 days left to infiltrate which is 4 man squad - doable in 2AS region Extreamly light.

My SaG Team:
1 Sword Shinobi
2 Assaults
1 Support grenadier (Officer)
5th man can be (Officer) Technical, Specialist.
Dunt take snipers, gunners, rangers they cant kill nothing in the beggining of the game on the SaG mission.

Rangers with less than 16 mobility should be used only as heaven Liasons.
Snipers and Gunners shine on the Troop Maneuvers missions.

Specialist shine all the time, on timed missions u can shutdown solo drones so u can get past them without losing Concealment. Also with the debuff overwatch spec they can be pretty good, but with overwatch spec they cant be officers.

Officers: i am still wondering who to train as officers. So far i think Technicals, Grenadiers, and no overwatch specialist can be great Officers.
I also wonder how much one rebel generate per day on the recruit job? And how many i need on recruit so i can get new rebel per 7 days?

I cant w8 to get the new PSI operatives. They will replace mid game all my rangers, gunners.
Imo Gunners on timed missions where u fight with pods with 2 or 3 enemies are useless. U barely get 2 man area supression, they r slow need reload, just not worth imo. Rangers need snipers to holomark, and even than they cant kill something.
Snipers should come in early mid game when u buy 6-7 man upgrade from GTS.
Technicals r great on every mission.
Assault is the King.
Shinobis r second only to the Assault.
Maybe Sparks could prove stronger this patch.

Anyway that's for now.
Wish u all great time with 1.3
Greetings

The missions that "Gain ADVENT attention", they increase vigilance by 3 points, triple what a typical mission does.
They use the sabotage monument and dark VIP (assassination) mission structures.
They're referred to as "propaganda" because they're mostly a way for XCOM to grandstand and draw ADVENT's attention to a specific region. They are not very useful to run in the first month where there's only at most 3 regions to play in.

I like some tips on hiding because I still dont get it. Im pretty new to LW2. In 1.2, I have read in the archives that if you put too many personnel on the job (recruits, intel, supply) you will pull attention to where your base is in the region which will lead Advent attacking them. After 2 or 3 successful mission I put 3 or 4 my personnel into hiding and the others into intel and still getting attacked no matter what I did. Im losing too many personnel in a run. I dont know how 1.3 works this time since Im still early in the game (Started new campaign) but I dont want to make mistakes like I did in 1.2. So what the best tips on hiding? When I should hide my personnel?

They actually end up giving you four points. The +3 vigilance is a bonus to the default +1 that you get for completing missions, it doesn't replace it.

There's some details, like how there are two groups of retaliations, but the gist of it seems to be that you can only avoid retals completely by having two or fewer rebels working in a haven. In essence this means retals are a fact of life in the region you're conducting operations in. Hiding is basically for when you control many regions and you don't need them all and can't defend them all.
