What is streetsweeper like now?

In early versions of LW2 people raved about streetsweeper but it got nerfed and now people don't talk about it much. Do people use it much?

I assume the aim drop-off on the shotgun is pretty crippling. I could see it having use in conjunction with an elite stock plus concealment or command: move to position, steady, (command), shoot with +25/+25. If my lead-by-example holobot officer is on the mission that would also help.

Lethal is going to be good all the time. But I'm playing Legend, so everything has a million hp in late game, so it's less likely to be the difference between a kill and not. And it doesn't give me a different tactical option.

Chain lightning is amazing but I generally only take it if I've built around it with a high aim solider, stun gunner and electroshock.

It's still good to have on at least one of your Assaults that didn't roll below average aim, specially if you send said Assault along with a rocket Technical or a SPARK with bombard (that packs a rainmaker'd Plasma Blaster). You're missing at potentially 6 points of damage on a double crit but sometimes you don't need it to score the kill or you can compensate somehow. Having an additional AoE in your team is always good for those "oh shit" moments.

Yeah it's hard to be scientific about it for late game. A scattergun does 8-13 base damage + 5 crit, so 13-18 most of the time. A stormgun does 10-14 base damage +8 crit, so 18-22 most of the time. With the range that wide it's hard to assess how many times +2/3 will make the difference between a kill and not.

In this case, I am relatively unlikely to research stormguns this campaign, as I only have one high level shotgun assault. That should probably tilt me towards lethal. On the other hand I'm a little light on AoE.

Went for streetsweeper in the end. Debut as MSGT turned out to be an invasion. This one was the usual 'target rich environment': 15-16 enemies active for several turns in a row as RNFs dropped as fast as I could kill. Got a nice one off using R&G + steady with elite stock + command. And then one other use to hit 2 targets. Happy with my decision.

Invasions are a lot of fun when the beacon is not completely inaccessible. This had a tense section where 8 of 10 soldiers had to focus down a sectopod leaving about 14 enemies to do as they pleased. Assault and 2 bladenobis in warden armour rushing the objective and charging into huge enemy packs, while everyone else fought at medium range and just tried not to get encircled (much). Satisfying moment when a rnf pod dropped on one of my bladenobis, resulting in 4 bladestorm hits, causing 2 kills and a vanguard burning.
