Tactical ablative armor

Post by Kamikaze Samurai »

I have been begun doing 0% infiltrations with a variation of Psieye's strategy.

The core principal of giving the aliens one fortified soldier to see remains the same.

The difference is that instead of configuring the squad to defend the Tank, they are selected and loaded out for maximum firepower, and the Tank is always a Rookie.

Literally acting as ablative armor for the rest of the squad.

Now you can control three or four regions with 3 squads. 9-12 missions in the same time
PsieyeOPs is very rewarding - loot is the same as solo infiltration but xp is skyrocketing.

Now I see why Psieye said intel is the limiting factor.

After the failure of my maximum science strategy I am now going for maximum expansion rate. Resistance Comms and Radio as soon as possible, 0% infiltration on every mission.

Intel shortage could become the limiting factor, but in my case it will probably be dead and wounded soldiers.

Lib 1 is enough for 3 regions after that I really like to do jailbreaks - you have to hack something twice.
Everything with hack reward.
Tower rewards are second source.
"Researching" intel is third source.
Fourth source are rebels on intel job - slow but constant.
I can't spend any intel on mission - this is for sure ( few intel rewards are most welcome)
5th region in first month - I still have to figure out how to manage that.
Doing that = rookie factory (5 havens vs 1-2).

I used console command to "see". After 50 rookies there was no point to recruit (fast) and intel is +5 per "cycle" vs +2
I think that I will broke Avenger if I go massive Psieye-OPs before I could recruit enough rookies.
2nd jailbreak in region is must do in every region - rewards are heavy.

This was planned.
I will see if it works. If I fail I will go straight to Legendary and try it again

Why radio it cost intel ? Almost one region.

Yeah, killing things quickly is important for 0% infil missions with RNF. So to clarify, you're starting to do 0% infil missions in which month(s)?

I started imnediately.
Only 2 missions so far but pulled them both off.
The ablative armor rookie survived one intact and was carried to the evac on the other.

I noticed that the 0% infiltration misdions in AS 1 regions always have 25 - 27 enemies, but strangely enough that went up to Swarming 33 - 36 after I infiltrated one up to 11%. Is that some kind of bug?

My squad is one specialist, 5 technicals, one shinobi, and the rookie (Commander's Choice mod).

I should be able to wipe the first pod from ambush using rifles and flamethrowers. The shinobi stays concealed to find the second pod, which is quickly destroyed but uses up about half of my rockets and grenades.

By that time the shinobi has been revealed either by getting spotted or attacking, and most of the remaining aliens have activated themselves by moving towards the sound of battle.

Now I have something like 10 - 15 aliens left to kill with an 8 man squad and half a loadout of consumables.

This is definitely doable, but not without taking some hits, so the rookie hunkers down up front and weathers the storm.

It's working fine against troopers and sectoids, but will obviously get tougher when the snakes and mecs show up. The idea is to cash in on this for experience and hack rewards before that happens.
I am also going to rush to the exosuit because it will double my loadout of rockets.

Super lucky on misdion RNG so far.
Hit Lib 1 on March 4, rescued a scientist on the Alien Hunter weapons discovery mission on March 5, and found a big fat haven personnel jailbreak on March 6. That one will be waiting for me when I get home tonight.

It is random +/- strength.
Same mission at same infiltration can have more or less Advent and game follow that pattern. If you reload earlier save you will get different results.
It is nasty if you targeted light mission and get moderate-heavy (max should be moderate ?). Exit the hologlobe and reload.

I can't even save scum scientist that early.

The scientist came from the Alien Hunters DLC.

It gives you some unique weapons in a POI package. The package gets discovered by completing a mission, which in this case just happened to be a scientist rescue.

I m sending all my squaddies on heavy suicide Lib 1 infiltration = 0%
What could go wrong?
If they survive they will receive my medal of honor - Cigar . I spend more time to customize them than I ever did. My record is 5s for damn customization and I spend more than hour on them. No pink soldiers in this squad or pigtails on shorts.

I hope that I have enough Grenades and Cigars.

Tactical ablative armor became competition who will screw his/her squad first.
