Detecting faceless/rendezvous missions 2

When mission stops or start ?
After reading xcom.missions can't figure when it is best to put soldier to advise.
It seems that putting soldier right after "Detecting faceless/rendezvous missions" and getting new rebels is 30 day of wasting resources or it is totally RND like 3 days (after reloading save).
Can't explain difference between 3 and 30 days with same advisor or getting it as first mission after 6 hours of scanning .
