And thats why I hope that reapers or at least reaper mechanics gets into the game.
A scout that can help out and stay in stealth.

More a mis-calculation. When I sent this squad out, andromedons hadnt made an appearance. Thankfully I have a Psi and Specialist around. The plan is to take out all the other pods whilst still keeping shinobi in stealth. Then reaper into codex. If I dont kill it I can reaper into the clones. Then whirlwind out. Use Psi to stasis the Andro and insanity a trooper. Double area suppress with locked on / mayhem Gunners to OW kill the other troops. Viper will get a shot away - cant be helped. Then basically kite the pod around the map with my force splitting up either side of the shinobi. If pod follows only one group, I flank with the other. If pod splits I attack using shinobi fleche / whirlwind every turn till I kite the andro back into the other pod.

@Snipethis good luck with that fight and be sure to tell us how it ended :)
Laser weapons against stronger aliens isn't the end of the world, i tested it, but i don't think i went as far as andromedons with my laser.

Just finished it - wasnt too bad at all. 20 enemies dead, 2 soldiers lightly wounded, 40 turns.

I found a nice corner of the map with some blind alleys and waited for the first mech pod to come in. Two mechs dead in overwatch, third gets gunned down using no cooldowns. Then I spend about 15 turns chasing a pod of two but by the enemy count I know there is a pod of 3 that I havent found yet. Mid-chase I find 2 viper elites and a sniper. I hide all my guys inside a cargo container with three sides intact. As one of the elites poked his head round (he poisons my fortress psi I left out as bait) I move my 2 gunners, psi and specialist out, find the sniper (who hasnt got high ground yet) and kill them eventually (missing a 85% and a 95%), then stasis the other elite as emergency. Next turn its dead. However at this point I can see a pod of 4 (2 heavy lancers, engineer, elite viper) on alert and moving in. They catch me before I can regroup and try to poison my guys carrying a medkit so no harm. I still have my 2 flamers in the container and my shinobi scouting far away. I move my guys on the blind side of the building so the new pod has no shots. They all move in closer. I open the door and burn a lancer and viper before closing the door with my other guy. I move my guys back round and take the pod down. I can see via my shinobi that the andro pod is 2 tiles away from activating so I am very careful with placement. The 4-pod gets a couple shots but no hits.

At the end of the turn the andro pod activates and runs in. I move my shinobi down behind them ready for reaper. I move my guys all into blind spots with no shots / andro smash. The main pod has andro, codex, 2 mutons, sniper, archon. Sniper takes high ground and has squadsight to my guys on the roof, so shinobi reapers him ready to hit the muton, then the codex. I chain shot the 90% codex... double graze for 4 each. Codex clones into my guys waiting below so no issue. Someone takes it down. I hide my psi trying to line up a null lance on the andro + more. I rocket a muton so reaper can follow up and kill. My guys move around taking pot shots ad flashbanging at other advent and getting them red fogged. Pod takes shots, makes a few <20% shots and an acid bomb - but no big hits. 4 guys down by a couple hp (post ablative / armor). I clean up the codex, both mutons leaving andro and archon. In killing the last muton the 2 missing advent emerge in perfect flanking positions (shock and engineer) on my grenadier. I flashbang and aid protocol but assume my guy is dead. I offer up my psi as bait and null lance the andro and archon and follow up with killing the organic andro and hacking the shell. I have moved my shinobi against the 2 pod ready for fleche. Amazingly both shots miss and archon comes up to my psi and misses. I fleche into the group and make short work of the rest of the mission.

Phew!
