Are reinforcements on "Protect the supply convoy" missions supposed to always drop in the same place?

If not, I may have a bugged install.

That's only because your soldiers are in the same place
RNFs in most missions seems to drop somewhere in the baricenter of all your soldiers (a point the most closest to all your guys). A 2D example. Let's say you have two soldiers (@), then RNFs (X) will most likely drop between them.

But if you have 3 soldiers, two close together, one war away, RNFs will come closer to the couple.

As far as I can make it out, only revealed soldiers are taken into account.
It used to be different prior 1.3. You don't even need a rookie red flare now to anticipate where RNFs will drop. Not sure I like it though, too predictable. It was kinda fun to watch RNFs drop in really wierd locations in 1.2.

Thanks, that's what I suspected but I hoped it wouldn't be the case.

It is really bad on missions like supply convoy: they are so easy and boring.

But it's terrible for them to drop out of sight. I wish that couldn't happen.

Maybe it's just me being a bad player, but I found the out of sight reinforcements in 1.2 a real challenge. I usually wasn't sure exactly where they were, so was under constant fear of activating them after sprinting all my squad!

I loved the out of sight! Slowdown you down because you risk activating them. Plus with increased rnf in 1.4, makes it more interesting them being everywhere

Yeah, but in 1. 3/1.4 they always drop in the centre mass of your squad

Is that really true? I was doing a haven defense where they would spawn reinforcements way out at the edge of the map, well outside the area that my team circumscribes. Sure didn't feel like a baricenter whatsoever.

I think Haven defence might be different, I've only played one and I wasn't on the look out for this issue so I'm not sure.

The one that really grates on me is the supply convoy protection mission. There's no reason to move your squad at all in that mission so they just keep dropping in precisely the same spot.
