It's an actual art asset in the game. So you'd have to ask Firaxis, I suppose.

Last night I had rain starting to pour while on that loading screen. I thought of the dog art thingy (forgot the name for the artsty frame thing) getting ruined by misterious indoor rainining.
EDIT: "painting". the word was "painting". I need another coffee.

I've only had that happen since installing the More Environmental Lighting Maps mod. I think it has something to do with the thing switching from interphase to in-map assets, but I could be wrong because I know little on the subject of how the loading scenes are rendered. All I know is that, about 90% of the way through loading the upcoming map, the lighting'll change dramatically, usually the door will go to a different color entirely, and the framerate'll skyrocket.Frei_Ninjesus wrote:Last night I had rain starting to pour while on that loading screen. And, yes, they're all good dogs, especially in Raqqa. Or where ever PPG was stationed, I forget.

Yup, had that happen to me as well. But I don't mind, those scenic settings are well worth any glitches in the loading screen (as long as it does load the mission )

Intentional or not, "misterious" is the best pun I have heard in months.Frei_Ninjesus wrote:Last night I had rain starting to pour while on that loading screen. I thought of the dog art thingy (forgot the name for the artsty frame thing) getting ruined by misterious indoor rainining.

It maybe the new 1.3 faceless. Players were getting to suspicious of that resistance guy just hanging around.

Re: Why a dog?
I like the dog, because it brings to bear the idea that we are at a resistance camp, a place where people are trying to lead their lives. But it seems weird that this portrait would be in so many resistance homes.
So I figure there are two possible explanations. The first is that this is not a portrait of a family pet, but of Scruffy the famous resistance dog, a hero who famously sniffs out faceless and forces them to reveal themselves by urinating on their legs. The second is that these portraits were sold by wal-marts before the invasion and when the looting ensued they were widely available and so grace the walls of many a resistance home. Originally, the dog was just a placeholder picture for anyone wanting to buy the frame, but most rebels don't have a better one, so they just keep the dog.
