Crowdsourcing translations #4: LW2 Patch 1.3, Batch 1 -- All In! Thanks!

Hi everyone,

Here's yet another round of new loc we would like to have translated for LW2 1.3. This is a big update with lots of balance changes.

Here is a repost of the guidelines for offering a translation:

We're trying to add a few new elements to the game for future patches, but a major obstacle is translating the supporting text for those elements into the various languages Long War 2 supports.

In the next post is the English text for a series of new UI elements and explanatory text. These are organized by tags and the actual text, e.g. TAG="Text"

The only stuff that needs translation is the text. The tags should remain as is, as the code references them. HTML tags, such as <Bullet/> and <br/> should also not be changed. Stuff in brackets should also be left alone as it signals the engine to use the text. In general, brevity is a virtue when translating.

The supported non-English languages of XCOM 2 are the following:

If you want to ask about a feature or balance change, please do so in a different thread.

It's also far easier to digest if you keep all your translations in one post (if the forum allows it) and in the order I posted them.

There will be a Batch 2 for LW2 1.3. So far it's pretty short.

You get the relay immediately upon winning the regional tower mission.

These are the same mechanism. +1 Crit per 10 for Mind Merge; +1 Crit per 5 for Soul Merge.

Hit and Slither is the OLD HnR (bonus move action after flank attack), so it's using the old loc.

No. You still need to hit with Flush to apply the defense and dodge penalties. So the "if it hits" applies to the entire set of effects.

In LW2 I believe only grenades can cause DoT. I think for other explosives that cause DoT damage -- like from mods -- would also apply here. Note that in the past Biggest Booms has buggedly applied full crit damage to every DoT tick, so this is taming that effect.

The literal reading is accurate. "upon any units you take a reaction shot at" means the enemy on the receiving end of a reaction shot has -10 aim. It does not matter if it hit or missed. It does not matter if the reaction shot was triggered in the context of covering fire's rules (enemy shot), regular overwatch (enemy movement), or suppression.

In English, "slither" describes the motion of a snake when moving. This ability is for Sidewinders. The perk name is a play on "Hit and Run," as this is a variant of the ability for Sidewinders only. (It's the old HnR -- where you get a bonus move after a flanked shot. The new HnR gives you a full bonus action, but giving that to Sidewinders was deemed OP.)

OK, it took me a little longer than expected due to checking the existing localizations often (i play XCom in English since EW - french Valhen had no german accent :lol: ). I hope i didn't mess with closing " or <br> tags between my copy-pastes, i tried to double check at the end.
Attempted to rewrite french description of flush to make it closer to english one.
Translation is in code block to be easier to select.

EDIT (04/13) I think due to the meaning of "quick study" the translation should always be plural (French grammar is so much fun even when it's your first language :oops: )
EDIT (04/20) Wasn't happy with how "Hit and Slither" translated in french so i went for something different that makes more sense

There is a typo in the german translation:

It's spelled "das", with one "s".

This is a good alternative, I chose "Kill" because this is already used in the german localization on other abilites and i wanted to maintain overall consistency where possible.

Actually, it's from the vanilla loc. I wasn't aware of this, too, until I took charge with creating localizations in german, as I'm playing in English. I think the base game german loc is horrible, to say the least. But it's too much work to overhaul it completely...

If you have further ideas or additions, it's greatly appreciated!
