Overwatch Chip as PCS vs Attachment

Anyone else very underwhelmed with the Overwatch PCS? They eat up a PCS slot to do something that isn't very useful in general.

Rangers don't need it. By the time they pick up Rapid Reaction, they have both high aim from their progression and Grazing Fire.
Specialists generally shouldn't be built Overwatch, as it limits their real uses. For everyone else, Overwatch is a handy ability, but not one they are dedicated around, and thus NOT worth expending their single available PCS slot on. Especially since, as a PCS, the Overwatch chips are destroyed when removed, limiting its use to that ONE soldier.

I've said it before, but I think these would be much more useful as a weapon attachment. Partly because it would be an AMAZING attachment for Shotguns, which currently suffer from the lack of an Overwatch reaction fire range. Furthermore, Shotguns don't really have a use for a lot of the current attachments. Scopes and Hair triggers are of negligible use, given close-range aim bonuses and the long-range penalties.

Furthermore, it'd be a nice boon to other classes that rolled an Overwatch ability or two on the AWC. Especially Assaults (I rolled an Assault with Ever Vigilant and Rapid Reaction. Surprisingly effective combo, but very unreliable. Anything moved too far away from the flanked pod, it'd waste shots). Or people who got Covering Fire but no other Overwatch perks to support it. Again, this is not worth a PCS slot, but might be worth a weapon attachment, which are removable and have a few more slots available.

*EDIT* Corrected a typo. Initially had it written that Specialists should be spec'd Overwatch.

Hair trigger is actually a decent shotgun attachment if you take Close Combat Specialist. I find that a decent number of those shots end up being misses.

I'd very much like to have Fire Control PCS rolled into some other equipment/ability/etc. They're horrible as PCSs, and you usually use them (if use at all) only for a short period where you don't have any good PCS.

But attachment slots are precious, not to mention new attachments aren't easy to make (they require models and sprites). We have one very underused attachment - scopes, but it won't make sense to mix scopes with Fire Control.

It should just be a setting on the soldier, not a bandaid taking up a resource slot.

Edit: Wait, what? Scopes? The attachment that makes you actually hit the target? What in the world could be more important? I wouldn't give up my Scopes for anything.

From my experience, the range penalty on shotguns in LW2 are much more severe than LW1, so the Sxope would only increase the reliable hit range by a tile or 2. On the other hand, Laser Sights increase the chances of your shots that hit to crit, so putting them on a shotgun kit is a bit lit.

Shotguns always get laser sights. The scope goes on every other gun that will ever be fired.

They should cost 1 supply, not 5. Then I might use them.

My dedicated overwatchers don't get scopes. Hair trigger + ext. mag + auto-loader. And then for fourth slot when that opens up they get laser sights, because critting on overwatch(cool under pressure) is nice.
