[suggestion] weapon mods

feel like the weapon mod system is really lacking in "unique" additions. sure it is meant to be generic but dammit why can't we have some cooler mods.

bellow are some weapon mod ideas.



AR ONLY

unslung weapons
info: these set of weapon mods allow single charge alt attacks to the standard AR, these attacks can help to augment your soldier in battle and give them boosts in situations.

unslung shotgun
info: an unslung single shot, shotgun. similar to the double barrel in use.
range: 3
damage: 4-7
charges: 1

unslung grenade launcher
info: a single charge grenade launcher loaded with a special shrapnel round.
range: 14
damage:2-3
blast range: 4
shredd: 0
pierce: 1

unslung flamethrower
info: a double charge flamethrower with a shallow cone but a longer range.
range: 8
cone at max: 3
damage:1-2
burn chance: 90%




CANNON AND SNIPER

BIPOD
info: gives a deploy ability.
DEPLOY: toggle ability requires low cover. when active reduces firing area to a 90 degree cone from cover, gives +10 aim and +5 crit to shots, and a free overwatch as long as deployed.
advanced BIPOD
deploy: toggle ability requires low cover. when active reduces firing area to a 120 degree cone from cover, gives +15 aim, and +10 crit to shots, and gives a free overwatch shot so long as deployed.
superior BIPOD
deploy: toggle ability requires low cover. when active reduces firing area to a 160 degree cone from cover, gives +20 aim, and +15 crit to shots, and gives a free ready for anything overwatch shot.




CANNON ONLY

heavy weapon mount(likely a bad idea)
info: a pod mount bellow the main barrel, allows a single heavy weapon charge.

heavy barrel
info: a longer heavier barrel, reduces move speed but increases AIM, crit, and adds one pierce.


SNIPER ONLY

ANTI MATERIAL BARREL
info: reduces ammo count by one, and gives a cover buster ability.
cover buster: passive, missed shots have a 25% chance to destroy cover
ADVANCED ANTI MATERIAL BARREL
cover buster: passive, missed shots have a 50% chance to destroy cover
SUPERIOR ANTI MATERIAL BARREL
cover buster: passive, missed chost have a 75% chance to destroy cover. plus gains active ability called controlled detonation, which allows targeting of cars as explosives. (Cars have 6 HP for this at 3 they will explode next turn at 0 they instantly explode)



NOTE: this is just ideas off the top of my head. in my mind the weapon modification was really a missed opportunity in the base game. LW2 really spiced it up, but still feels lacking with out unique to weapon modifications and special power ones.

I don't think the LW2 team is interested in making too many extra weapons simply to have them in the game, I think they introduced more tiers due to the longer nature of the game, but otherwise if you can leave it to an independent modder why not?

hence why suggesting weapon mods, not weapons them selves.
