Does liberation counter a UFO Hunt event?

I had a UFO hunting me, and just completed my first liberation, and now the UFO is gone. But I'm suspicious, is it really gone? I don't see it in the list of active dark events either.

I've seen the UFO randomly vanish from the geoscape before as well. Don't be fooled, it'll be back.

So yeah, within a few hours of in game time, the UFO attacked, it was just hidden.
