Missing save file after game crash

So I just had a game crash between turns. And after I restarted the game the save file of that campaign was not there. After second game restart and a reboot I checked again and the save game still didn't appear. So I checked the save game folder on my pc and it vanished from there as well? So how does ironman saving between turns work? Does it delete the save game and THEN create a new one? Any idea how to recover the lost save game via steam cloud? I am kinda upset atm

Common save game bug. This is why you see "don't turn this machine off" warnings in everything.

Saves are usually written at once, by wiping and then rewriting the file. A crash between turns as the file is being saved will result in a blank save file. GG.
