Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.

This got me thinking: what if when you grab a package on a Smash & Grab mission, you learn right away, realtime , what's in it? No, you learn what it is at the end of the mission. Also, the rewards are randomly chosen at the start, and there's nothing preventing multiples of the same reward Rig...

Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.

If I am reading the spirit of the balance changes right, are these changes meant to be balanced by other things (making strategy layer easier, making aliens weaker via lowered defence/dodge, making pods smaller), or is it mostly meant to make the game harder overall? People always want a big pictur...

Re: Flashbang mk2 and mk3 are needed

Adding resistances to aliens and then adding items that circumvent said resistances doesn't really do anything for the game. It just makes it more complex. It's best if you just choose one or the other. It's all moddable in the config, after all. People are making a huge deal about flashbang resista...

Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.

Flashbang nerf is reasonable, but I'd like to point out, once again, that Flashbangs are the only option you have to disable bullshit abilities like Tongue Grab early on in the game, and they're one of the few non-suppression aim reducing options you have early game. I'm not saying they didn't need...

Re: How many intel havens/cherry-picking mission strategy?

It depends on the overall situation. If you already have several active regions and are getting plenty of missions, definitely go all recruit. As both you and LordYanaek have noted, this gives time for vigilance to cook off on the new region, which unlocks some of the more lucrative missions. If you...

Re: JoINrbs - Manipulating Spawn Conditions for Guerrilla Ops

Not really, but you can use the console to read that data. It's a bit more involved than just typing stuff into a console. I explain how to do it here . Personally, using these commands has greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the strategic layer. I say this while still agreeing that leaving it hidden w...

Re: Arc Thrower science

Air has a dielectric strength of 3 million volts per meter, but humidity will drop that number pretty quickly. You can make a guess as to the minimum voltage of the arc thrower from looking at the range.

Re: Suggestions for Battlescanner Utility

I've always thought that Scanning Protocol needs to be a free action. As it is, it has about the same range as a battlescanner, but with a higher opportunity cost. If you could pop SP and then make two moves, you could get a very useful scout.

Re: Optimal threat level

My personal answer to this question is "Whatever is the highest number you can possibly reach." Trying to hover at a +20 score means doing relatively few missions. This puts you in a double bind, because the aliens continue producing Avatar II (shudder) at a relatively unhindered rate, AND...

Re: The Issue with Yellow Alert and Engagements

My preferred solution is to have aliens fire first, and then scamper. There will need to be special logic for overwatch (aliens really need to move first if they are going to overwatch). I don't mind aliens being allowed to fire on their own turn if they move into me. I do mind the occasional circum...

Re: Consequences of losing/skipping missions

It should be noted that Rendezvous missions clear faceless from your haven if you accept them and still lose, but don't clear faceless if you just skip them. If you just care about the strategic benefits and don't care about the loot, you can accept a Rendezvous and then immediately evac. EDIT: Also...

Re: LW2 Strategic Layer: Managing Strength and Vigilance

High strength regions are kind of funny. They can mean one of two things. If you had your heart set on liberating the region, then high ADVENT strength can be seen as a failure condition. If you are okay with not liberating that specific region, then it counts as a victory. If you have, say 10 legio...

I thought I was punching ADVENT in the mouth when I had a 40 point lead. You have a 132 lead, and ADVENT strength is super low. I didn't think this level of strategic victory was even possible.

Re: Is it odd to have zero avatar progress in November/December?

I just checked and I currently have exactly 40 master sergeants, 21 gunnery sergeants, 15 tech sergeants, 18 staff sergeants, 11 sergeants, and 2 lance corporals - for 106 soldiers in total. This is why you have so few Avatar pips. With that many soldiers, and with that many ranks, you have doing m...

Re: LW2 Strategic Layer: Managing Strength and Vigilance

I think it's a hold over from an old system that isn't used anymore. From XComGameBoard.ini ; this is a chance that each facility will be able to generate doom if the update ticks during a super-emergency ; Note this mechanic is still coded, but disabled with these ini settings for new vigilance/ava...

Re: LW2 Strategic Layer: Managing Strength and Vigilance

Thanks for the breakdown. The strategic layer is probably the least understood part of the game. I wish the mechanics were more transparent, but the reality of modding is that the UI is never going to do everything we wished it could. A little tidbit that I think most people don't know: When you lib...

One final note- I read recently that apparently officers and Psi Operatives have significant bonuses to Faceless discovery. Do you have any idea how powerful those are? The table is in XomLW_Activities.ini [LW_Overhaul.X2LWActivityDetectionCalc_Rendezvous] ; this is the amount of "Intel Income...

Re: Help with a 10 advent strength region

Keep in mind that liberating a high strength region can end up causing you more trouble than living with it. When you liberate a region, up to 5 ADVENT strength points are destroyed. If there any leftover points, they get distributed to adjacent regions. This can make a mess of your map if you were ...

Re: Is something broken with my reinforcements?

The mod really needs documentation. I almost reported my first snare mission as a bug. Snares are unfair, by design. This is fine. It's a trap, and the objective changes to "get out alive." But without documentation, the player will either assume it's a bug or that this is the new status q...

Figured this one out. Well, joinrbs told me, but still. LWDumpActivityLog and LWDumpRegionInfo dump the information into Username/Documents/My Games/XCOM2/LogLaunch.log. The information is appended to the end of the file. LWDumpActivityLog gives you tasty information like this: [0052.58] ScriptLog: ...

Re: I Just Did a 100% Shinobi Playthrough: What I Learned About Rangers

Two things that might help Rangers that I've seen suggested 1) Some sort of mobility option that keeps them from getting left behind and not being able to leverage Light Em Up. A higher mobility score doesn't really help here, it's more of a tempo issue than a raw movement issue. My preferred soluti...

Re: unrevealed faceless w/Intel gathering ?

Yeah, Recruit and Intel Faceless actually do negative work, and are worse than just not having anybody at all. Supply faceless do normal work, but each faceless in a haven hits you with a 20% penalty to ALL supply from that haven, no matter what job they are doing. It's done this way because otherwi...
