Re: Alloys and enviormental damage

Nope. I mean alloys and elerium salvage is calculated on shot down, prior to mission, so you cannot get less due to environmental damage. Therefore: go ahead blast walls at will, no mercy to aliens :) BUT: other salvage like computers, power sources, stasis tanks etc. will depend on actual damage.

Hmm, 'everything is transparent' sounds normaln. Do you remmember to use 'F' and 'C' keys (default) or wheel-up / wheel-down - to change the level you are pointing at?

I found this on nexus - it says it is for LW 1.0. I do not know German well enough to tell if it is complete

Re: German port of LW Enemy Within

I understand. Couldn`t the pro team of 2K do the same thing with LW 1? Well, they don't get paid for it, so why should they do it? :) It is not simply translating but often interpreting also: "How to translate quasi-idioms like: 'Fire in the Hole', 'Light'em Up' or 'Shock and Awe'?". As f...

Re: Several questions about the AI and difficulty

Well, first of all I do not think that LW devs messed with AI scripts. I think they just found the way to exploit the built-in AI mechanics by giving enemies more movement, modifying their stats and perks and so, and giving soldiers positive Defence stat and increasing cover-protection. I found in D...

Re: The difference between challenging and frustrating

If you play on Normal as recommended, you just need to be more patient. The campaign will easily take some 20 months - not 6-7 like in vanilla. Aliens have some 60-65 aim so they have only 15-20% chance to high if you are in high cover. You want to say you have trouble with them? Use flash grenades!...

Re: Bug "all people are different"

There's no such option in LW. In fact "all people are different" is a default setting in LW. You probably chose "Strict screening" which gives equal stats for rookies as in vanilla version.

Re: Multiple, Consistant CTD's

Hmm, I would dig further the GPU problem issue. Are you sure that your game runs with your dedicated GPU? I played 4 campaigns of XCOM EU without having idea that I played with poor built-in GPU. Then I found on Google that XCOM had problems with turning on nVidia cards. You need to do it manually i...

Re: First Long War Campaign: Council mission increased panic instead decreasing?

Oh, and one more thing: " Note that there is also a 50% chance of adding +15 panic to any panic causing event if there is an active and hidden EXALT cell on the same continent as the target country. For example, an ignored and successful air raid in France has a 50% chance of causing +25 panic ...

Re: First Long War Campaign: Council mission increased panic instead decreasing?

Countries leave only at end of month. If Mexico left, the panic level at end of month must have been >95. What was the panic level after the terror mission? Losing 10 civilians in a terror pumps the panic up by +30 and losing satellite is another +25. Maybe the 'end-of-month' occured on the flight b...

Re: UFO stats increased

There are limits to UFOs' improvement. Scout will never deal one-shot-kill to Firestorm. It will need 7-8 hits shooting at 75% accurancy (I assume defensive stance and proper foundry upgrades). That is 10+ seconds. Even Battleship will not one-shot-kill Firestorm with its Fusion Lance. However with ...

So taking cover decreases Ethereal's chance to hit with Psi Lance, right? That might be in line with my observations (as far as I can recall :) )

So, what are the mechanics behind Psi-Lance?

This is the only thing I cannot figure out or find reliable info on. I've seen "miss" for Ethereal's attacks so it is not 100%; neither is it will-test-based as I would expect something like "failure". So is chance to hit based on aim or will? How can I improve my chances to surv...

And I love the new system. Great idea and great job, Amineri. But, well, math is my great love and statistics is a piece of cake to me, so that's probably why :) As soon as I saw "there is 68%..." I got that 'oh, that's Gaussian distribution'.

Re: UFO damage indicator

You have to assault an UFO, then do the research on the UFO type and then you will get the indicator when fighting an UFO of the researched type. So with every type of UFO - you first have to shoot down one or wait till it lands, before you can do the proper research. However - assault on the battle...

You manufacture MECs in Workshop just as Carapace and other armors, not in Repair Bay :) Just switch to "Armor" section in Workshop and you will see your "MEC-1 Paladin" on the list.

Grapple issues - intended or coincidence

From curiosity. Are there some intended mechanics implemented to the grapple by Long War? 1. Only possible reason I can think of: I mind controlled a heavy floater early in mission, but mind control did not end after 3 turns... maybe the game thinks, an enemy is still alive (said floater)? Hmm, final mission still ahead to me but that should not be the matter as killing the Uber alone (eve...

Re: HE grenades are broken

And HE grenades do the damage. It's basically 1-5 points as stated in description. Just it might be reduced (even to 0) due to damage reduction resulting from cover ('toddlers' like sectoids or thinmen have no armor for DR). We can discuss whether the damage spread is realistic, but no doubt that co...

I disagree with uselessness of HE grenades. Just learn its purpose and learn how to use it. These are not supposed to damage aliens, really. At the begining of campaign they do destroy cover but in the very center of blast radius (say withing 1 tile radius) and in fact they are supposed only for tha...

Re: Why do you play "Ironman"? (if you do ;) )

Well, I share your view, but I must admit that playing Ironman (that I did only for achievement) gives those moments of exceptional thrill that can't be replicated in non-Ironman playthrough. However, there are so many issues that make Ironman no-funny to me despite the thrill and challenge. These a...
