Re: So much cool gear, unusued.

I see two general directions for solving this without tweaking the gear itself: 1) Extend the lategame. I've never reached it myself, but I keep hearing how lategame is "omg Sectopods and Gatekeepers in even bread and butter missions - may as well not do anything while waiting for Golden Path m...

My first question would be: can they make it a non-consumable? Is it hard-coded to be a consumable?

Mass Snapshot Snipers and Tank Shinobis

My current Veteran Non-Ironman campaign was 'cursed'/'blessed' with a wad of min/max'd rookies who I didn't want to randomly select classes. Quite besides the weeks of delay this meant, I'm now having to fund a lot of laser lances plus not-selling all the stocks/scopes they use. As in, I could have ...

Re: Commander Level After Action Report

I'm certainly noticing the immense drain on my economy from buying lasers for everyone I care about (which is a lot now that I've learnt to squeeze in Recruit phases after spawning missions). My current campaign was 'cursed'/'blessed' with a large number of min/max'd NCE rookies just asking to be pu...

Re: MECs seem underwhelming

Back in 1.2 my one SPARK was the most dependent on cover, despite being unable to benefit in Defence from cover. In other words, I used it as a counter-intuitive 'stealth-dependent' flanker. Typically I'd lead the fight onto some rooftop such that a 'thinman jump' lets the SPARK get close-range flan...

The Conspicuous Assault and the Shinobi: Dark VIP

Veteran non-Ironman Lib 3, str 3: Light enemy presence 6-man squad, including 1 rookie show up to kidnap an enemy VIP offering +1 resistance contact. I hear 2 Mecs, I only brought 2 frag grenades. The first pod was pulled safely and the laser-rifle Ranger solves the 1st Mec after a grenade shreds 1 ...

Re: What am I doing wrong? Commander Ironman

That being said, a basic officer have 75 aim, high cover gives 45 def, smoke adds 20, this leaves 10% chance to hit or 20% to graze with default value for graze band so about 1/5 shot will do some damage. If that same officer have marked you i think it adds 15% chance to hit so it would be 35% chan...

- Resource allocation as in priority: - GTS, AWC, The 2 perks in the GTS that award extra kill exp and extra loot when it drops, weapons and equipment, and if I have a lot spare, scientists and new soldiers. - Resistance management: all into intel, on every region I contact, until I have around 8 g...

That's not a supply raid. It's a facility construction unit.

Re: Science Strategy

This may just be me, but I never ever sell alloys, I'm short alloys the entire game. That's probably because I like to build a lot of EXO suits which are very alloy intensive. I will gladly give up on EXO suits if it means getting out more competent bodies right now (just had the 1st supply drop). ...

selling your first 30 or so alloys and elerium (sell more alloys if you get them from hack rewards). Buy Vulture ASAP. With Vulture, it is not weird to be getting 30+ cores a month, and each one sells for 20. I had been noticing with Smash and Grab that my alloys are starting to pile up quicker. My...

Re: Facility Leads?

It's ok if proving ground sits idle, alloy plates and incendiaries are all you need to make it worth it. That was the problem in that campaign: I was so far behind research and corpses I couldn't do incendiaries for maybe 1~2 months of proving grounds idle time? Maybe it was closer, but it's been a...

Re: Facility Leads?

[*] AWC I don't think delaying it that long is really a good idea. The AWC doesn't need a scientist to train soldiers, only to heal you faster. Some AWC perks are really useful and i like Quick Learning officers which means i want the AWC before i start training high level officer perks (2nd Lt to ...

Re: Science Strategy

In general your probably going something like Lasers > Predator > Mag > Coil > Warden with some side-steps for autopsies when needed. A good place to look at picking up Psi early is between Lasers and Predator. The earlier you can get Psi, the more useful it is. I'd say if you don't have Psi by the...

Re: Science Strategy

My current (aborted) campaign is on Veteran (non-Ironman) with Commander's Choice. I used that mod as an excuse to ignore GTS until like June or later, in the name of a Psi rush and an early AWC (for cross-class perks). That turned out to be a luxury direction that likely won't hold on the harder di...

Re: Should I skip low-time Data Leak mission?

Glad it worked out. I think that people fear retaliations more than they merit. Even if you don't detect the data leak mission, you still get ~24 hours to prepare, and you get to send ten soldiers with no time obligations. You get experience for your soldiers, and you purge your haven of all spies....

Re: Science Strategy

In the opening, scan 4 days in the 1st region, then bounce off to the BM. Scanning more than that is kind of wasteful, if you don't have your two gops by then, you probably won't get good timers no matter what. Buy a scientist as soon as the BM pops. This is possibly the single biggest tip I've rea...

Re: Is having Reinforcements during Concealment a bug or intended?

Nothing in the 1.1-1.5 patch notes talks about ANY mission changing to drop reinforcements during concealment I do not know which thread I picked it up from this forum, but at the very least I knew reinforcements would be dropping even while concealed before v1.3 came out. I was not aware those rei...

I'm guessing that Jake/Garth created this expansion with you guys (LW2 mod) in mind and to ensure all of the moving parts play nice with each other. To speculate with zero knowledge of what's actually the case: if I was the code architect for this expansion, I'd make sure to let modders pick and ch...

From all the mechanics presented here on the forums and in the wiki, I have expected a minor upgrade as a penalty for missing those 8% - not Bradford informing me back to back about MECs, Mutons and Shield Bearers when looking at the MKII versions of the former 2. I don't expect the info in the UI ...

Re: Is there a way to resurrect 0 rebel region?

It would seem to me by that logic that if your haven is dead, a soldier regardless of rank is useless as an advisor. Because +5% or +10% or +30% more than X is still a whopping 0; that bucket ain't filling any time soon. The soldier also gives a flat bonus (that just happens to be equal to the numb...

Re: Is there a way to resurrect 0 rebel region?

No, soldier liaisons add 5% to recruitment per soldier rank, officer has no effect on that. I'm not understanding the '5% (per rank)' part of that statement. So if you have a squaddie in a 0 rebel region, does that mean there's a 5% chance per Some Time Period to recruit someone (then further dice ...
