Re: Why do Shinobi's get 5 hacking per level?

Might I use this thread to ask how the 70 percent chance when skulljacking are calculated? Would an assault horrible at hacking also get 70 percent chance to skulljack?

Re: Mimimi moments, or no regrets when reloading a save

HQ assault, triggered 3 pods in close chronological proximity, grenadier flanked and shot, gunner shot for 7 damage by a heavily wounded viper through full cover By all means a tech should be dead as well but I revived him from bleeding out status Ugh I feel like playing honest will ruin my campaign...

Re: Mimimi moments, or no regrets when reloading a save

I hate faceless with a passion. If I was sitting next to a faceless on a plane, I would open the emergency exit dooming us all just to get rid of the faceless.

Re: Mimimi moments, or no regrets when reloading a save

Honestly I'm at a point where I basically want things to go south so I can test new situations for a guide project I'm planning. I've narrowed it down to: - Reloading out of bugs and UI errors. Also I want saves to submit to the bug forum. E.g. Liberation can break some missions from loading. - Mis...

Re: Mimimi moments, or no regrets when reloading a save

Code Black This was the last time I did a 2-man Infiltration Rescue VIP (the one where you are already uncloaked and ready to go with the VIP) Made some good decisions. Tried one side, was blocked, hugged the other side of the map and made it to the vicinity of the Building with evac undetected. The...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.

The mod could use a better balance to make it less frustrating to players who haven't spent 200+ hours playing it. Exactly so. At times it's just irritating hearing Xwynns comment on some internal facet that he can identify during gameplay that lets him know he can do certain things that aren't obv...

Re: Mimimi moments, or no regrets when reloading a save

Another victim Recover Item GOp, extremely light, easy going all the way, I activate the last two pods voluntarily because I have shinobi and assault ready to go (up Close) with gunner and Grenadier backup. Noice. So I do an incredibly satisfying Play by sending my assault up on the Roof of a one St...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.

My gunners hit constantly with suppression. Put hair triggers on their weapons, give them the graze fire skill and generally try to get gunners with high aim and they become beasts.

Re: Shaped Charges.

If they work how I think they do (you can decide when they blow and they have a very large noise radious?) I see them being useful in 2 or 3 man infiltrations where you want to sneak all the way to the objective. You could send your shinobi to one side of the map, and move along the edge of the map...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.

You've gotten many useful hints and I too have learned from this thread that there are some habits of mine which are clearly sub-par. I think one of the most important skills though to have fun with Long War is to not take deaths to heart too much. It will always feel unfair because in the first imm...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.

As Long as hits on low percentage shots don't mass up, it's to be expected. Man is very bad at judging probabilities. You don't notice the 50 shots that miss on a 2% shot, but the one shot that hits, you notice. And deem it unfair. If low probabilities never occured , there's be no Cancer, no lotter...

Also keep in mind that in case you thought you heard a certain enemy but you didn't encounter it, you might have been right, but just not triggered the pod where it was in.

Re: Mimimi moments, or no regrets when reloading a save

I didn't really have the chance to get my tech into a good position but that might be due to my default defensive playstyle and being out of shape. I guess it might have been much easier had I spent my conceal break on inflicting heavy damage to a pod instead of shooting the relay.

Re: Mimimi moments, or no regrets when reloading a save

I like to have spider suit on shinobis out scouting as the grapple doesn't reveal you and usually allows you to move out of a bad location but yeah, being revealed while scouting is very annoying especially when the rest of the squad is far away. spray of 1,14 tiles, I aimed more than 1 tile away, ...

Started very well, got a nice Position up top for sniper, positioned squad defensively while scouting the target with scoutnobi. Po...

Re: New 8-man GOp campaign - 1.5 Commander

So, all missions except HQ's (and Rendezvous, obviously) will be done by ONE 8-soldier squad? Ah no, it means I'm only allowed one 7 or 8-man squad and the rest of the GOps must be done with ordinary 4~6-man squads. I find 4-soldier GOps are very risky, especially with a Shinobi that wants to stay ...

@lordyanaek
@dwarfling

Thanks for both your replies. My reasoning is the same as dwarflings, I use shinobis primarily to know the status of the map and if I can move safely. I enjoy that kind of playing. Gives me the feeling of having more control over the situation, which gives me a warm feeling :D

Re: How important is mobility?

Ok apparently my Walking battlescanner Approach is quite antiquated.
Is there nobody playing on legend who uses them for scouting mostly? I just wonder if you two just prefer it a different way or if there's just no reason to try and make them work as pure stealth Units in legend.

Re: Difficulty increase during infiltration

Yeah that's possible, I read something like that Happening regularly with HQ assault. The reason being that baseline strength rises with Advent strength and a rise in Advent and baseline strength will be adjusted retrospectively. So it's a good idea to Keep up with Advent strength changes. I think t...

Re: How important is mobility?

I dare say though shooty shinobis are quite unusual and most times, most People will opt for a stealthy Scout shinobi because recon is what keeps you alive during missions. Depends. I had 3 scoutnobis in my last campaign. 2 were real scouts doing scouting while the 3rd was leading a stealth squad w...

Re: How important is mobility?

Shinobis, despite moving a lot, IMO don't need that much mobility, because you need to be careful not to move too far into unknown territory anyway. Also since they almost never shoot, they always get an SMG for extra mobility. I disagree with this. Middle tree shinobi are great flankers. Move to f...

Re: How important is mobility?

Defense is important for gunners because they will suppress a lot and will lose suppression when hit.
