Valid opinion greep, but I disagree. There's no basis to say Pavonis "is better" at a tactical strategy design when they have never made a 4x game. Given their history of consistently and quickly responding to community feedback I'd say Pavonis is going above and beyond many game developer...

And thanks for the write up. How did the avenger defense go? What troops and tactics did you use? My last 2 L/I campaigns were lost due to UFOs popping while most of my troops were deployed.

I agree combatives may be too strong - I just dislike balancing when the change makes an ability/item/etc. still overpowered some of the time, and underpowered the rest of the time. In my opinion it should be consistently less good. For example with combatives there should be a low chance to counter...

I think gunners are underpowered as well. When you generally have to kill or disable everything as fast as possible, a slow moving gunner with suppression just doesn't cut it. Go to the game in your steam library and right click. Go to properties, find the button that says something like "verify game files." Also uninstall all your mods including long war and reinstall them from the steam workshop.

Usually all shinobis and high hacking specialists become officers for me. I give high aim / decent defense grenadiers a pistol and train them in the AWC; they also go sapper into damage build. Low aim grenadiers will be support grenadiers and officers as well.

I have yet to find stealth a viable option after 1.3. Evac timers are either too long, or there's the threat of RNF when evac is fixed. Add to that the scattered solo drones on random patrol paths and the objective defense pod and I equip my teams to fight it out with the first pod 95% of the times...
