Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce
This has been an informative and enjoyable discussion, the only other thing I'd like to add is that you should consider buying WOTC even if LW2 will never be ported to it, Firaxis seems to have done a wonderful job and there are several things that just increase the overall atmosphere of the game. A...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce
So yes, while it is nice to read about your work and how this is your job now @johnnylump - is it part of your job to port LW2 to WotC or not or aren't you allowed to tell? If by contract they're not allowed to tell then he has to omit anything from conversation that might give hints toward that in...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce
That's the price you pay to become a developer instead of a mod group. Pavonis isn't a modding group anymore, they are paid for by 2K and are subject to all the strings that come along with that, whether they like it or not. I'm sure, if they are working on something, that they are chomping at the b...

Re: Class Selection on Level-ip
For example, I had a low-aim but high mobility soldier end up as a sharpshooter, which initially disappointed me (because of the aim). I initially was considering going with a holotargeting build, but I ended up taking snapshot, and adding a scope, so that his high mobility lets him get flanks more...

Re: Class Selection on Level-ip
I'm not asking for Commander's Choice as I don't like the setting personally, if you would have read I wasn't asking for that just stating that there was a reason it was popular in EU's version of Long War. No, I'm saying I was sad to see that Long War stuck with the roll of the dice soldier class u...

Class Selection on Level-ip
Just getting started with Long War 2 and came across something that I was saddened to see hadn't been addressed from vanilla. The Class selection system on Level-up is still completely random, this was a poor design choice in EU/EW and they carried it over into 2 sadly but I was hoping that Long War...

Are these going to be player controlled or have you created an additional AI that controls the rebels?

Re: Long War Assets: access for other modders
All those assets can be easily extracted from our existing mods or Long War 2 after it's published using the game's mod tools, and we probably don't have staff time to put together separate downloads for likely a limited audience. We may be able to do a separate coilgun pack for players. I'm not su...

Long War Assets: access for other modders
Hey Pavonis, Want to start with saying that like others on the site I'm truly looking forward to what you have done with Long War 2 and I can't wait to get my hands on it personally, though maybe for different reasons than most of the others here. I plan to do at least one playthrough of your overha...

Re: Long War 2 feature announce: Strategy layer changes
Our XCOM2 stuff is "free for noncommercial use." In terms of packaging various files to get at it, we can post them on the Nexus if necessary. There aren't reinforcements for XCOM during tactical missions (except in the Avenger mission, like vanilla.) Last question can't answer yet. That ...

Re: Long War 2 feature announce: Strategy layer changes
This question relates to the access other modders will have when working with Long War assets. Will there be a separate mod or mod package that includes all of the added art assets in Long War 2 or will modders be required to work off Long War if they want to utilize anything new that was added? Als...

Awesome to hear it's something that is being considered and thanks for the response!Amineri wrote:Moddability is something I am considering as I lay out the architecture, but it does entail extra coding work. Ideally I would like to include moddability, but we'll have to see how development goes.

Re: Done with modding XCom 2 yet?
This post was made in relatively poor taste as it was a frustrating time for me, you guys have done great work on the XCom 2 mods I just am anxious to see what you can do with a game of your own. Can't wait to see what you have in store with Long War 2, but hopefully it will also mean that you will ...

Re: Anxious about kickstarter
I'm certain it will be worth the wait, though I like you would to see them change their focus away from XCom 2 modding already and on to the development of Terra Invicta so I can throw some money behind a passionate team.

What about modding?
Hey Pavonis, I was rather fond of Long War Studios but the name Pavonis is slowly growing on me. Nostalgia aside, what are the plans for making the game openly moddable for others to enjoy modifying it into their own experience? I know programming is no small feat and trying to find a proper balance...

Re: Long war killed Xcom 2 haha
It's too bad LWS isn't willing/able to give any meaningful hints as to the possibility of a Long War 2. They are acting a lot like a development studio being governed by a publisher, who can't share anything of substance until they have special dispensation from said publisher to do so. That's mayb...

Done with modding XCom 2 yet?
Hey, was a big supporter of the Long War mod for XCom Enemy Unknown but I have to say that it's extremely irritating dealing with your mods for XCom 2. Not sure if it's a deal with Firaxis or just a selfish desire but the transparency you had with Enemy Unknown changes didn't carry over to your XCom...
