Note: The "Evac All" mod will mark squares which can't be evacced from with a red overlay. I find it quite helpful.

Unfortunately the number of difficulties in the game is actually quite hardcoded and cumbersome to change. That said, I've felt the same way about Vet-Commander difficulty, that it'd be nice to have one between them. Theoretically, by using extensive ini edits one could bring one of the difficulties...

The thing to remember is that the "Current Activity" is the final word as far as the number of enemies on the mission. Advent strength in the region, the type of mission, and the readiness level (which is a number behind the scenes that's converted to a word) all contribute to determining ...

In my experience the result of the interception (evade or catch) does seem to be determined when the ufo initially spawns. Can't be 100% sure about it ofc, but that matches my own testing.

Faceless used to steal a flat number of supplies, which meant that A) low number of rebels on supply would be completely and totally shut down and B) you could kinda overpower them by having tons of rebels on supplies. Some of the civvies on invasions are just rando civvies enjoying the freedom living in a Liberated region provides, and some of them are actual rebels. Former will disappear after being contacted, latter will come under XCOM's control.

NCE is turn-off-able in the Options menu (existing soldiers will be affected by turning it off) if you'd prefer to play without it. It does use a stat swapping system to make the changes. You can edit the weights in the Toolbox .ini file if you so wish. There are potential builds for low-aim soldier...

That's probably a snare mission. Doesn't have anything to do with your liberation, it's just that that mission was a trap set by the aliens (in general those are a RUN AWAY!! type experience).

Only example I've ever seen is Blizzard's official forums have a "next blue post" button at the top of threads (blue posts being Blizz devs). But I have no idea how their forum backend compares to phpBB.

Enemies should no longer alter their patrol paths to intercept XCOM if XCOM has not broken concealment. This is vanilla behavior removed in LW2 wherever we found it. Unfortunately, we missed a spot (blame us playtesters). That should be fixed in patch 1.1.

Yeah it's really hard. You can also take 12 soldiers though, which is more than practically any other mission in the game so if there weren't tons of enemies it'd be (and used to be) too easy.

I believe OW in XCOM 2 does have a to-hit penalty. Just not when firing from concealment.
