Re: Evac during recruit raid

The low strenght Recruit Retals (V.Light) are still quite easy if you know the dynamics of the mission. The composition must be able to handle the yellow alert pods and scenarios where you activate multiple pods. My go to comp is: Shinobi, Snapshooter, Grenadiers and overwatchers, bringing all your ...

Re: Evac during recruit raid

Pavonis felt they had to make the Retals harder so... That's just how it is. But now that you know, you can prepare better.

Not so sure about find a lead missions but most of the Facility Leads I get come from Rescuing Scientists that come with Intel Packages.

Re: Psi rush 1.5 edition

Here's the save: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1215g_eL7e2wa4xmvMTZNtXj4EyjFHQwA I held on buying a scientist until I rescued the 1st one (after engineer rescue). But since I had 2nd region up, it generated another scientist rescue mission there. Rescued both, got a scientist PoI. Then rescued an...

Lol, correction, 5 scientists (+B.Res) by April 21. I don't even feel like continuing, that campaign is already won.

Re: Psi rush 1.5 edition

I once went with 5 but I abandoned the campaign after I botched an invasion. Before that almost every mission I fielded one felt trivial because if something went wrong the SPARKs can take a couple hits and downtime was minimal. I use Shen's Legacy mission so I guess I have it easier? It's an unfair...

Re: Psi rush 1.5 edition

The advantage of going with SPARKs is that the tech path is the same, you don't need a specialized building, SPARKs level normally and whatever research the SPARKs need to shine, the rest of the barracks can use. You're siphoning resources from equipment, but the base SPARK dominates T1 and holds vs...

Re: Psi rush 1.5 edition

If you want an opinion: Psi Rush is just less efficient than just doing the regular Weapon tech focus and getting the Psi on the side if your resources allow it. Getting them early doesn't make the early-mid game any easier than having advanced weapons on your barracks does. I speak from experience ...

Cover that doesn't work and reveal tiles that won't show properly (even if you see the whole pod). Also the missions boosted by a Liberation seem to bug out and load improperly.

Re: Ironman Commander+

Ironman still requires a tolerance for some rage-inducing bugs. Biggest difference with early 2017 is that full stealth 2-man missions are a gamble at best. But yeah it can be done in any difficulty, you just need a tough skin.

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds

I think someone (or me) should put up some sort of guide/chart of Sapper frag interactions. I don't have a lot of time and it's gonna look ugly but I think I can get it done. Eventually.

Re: Technical Flame Guy

I find SSGT on Technicals pretty much a non-choice because Phosphorous is still bad and Tandem isn't really needed. Which one would you take? - Decreased chance of wounds? - A tickle of damage on robotics? (shred doesn't mean pierce) - Chance of not getting a small damage penalty on rockets (and I g...

Re: Legend campaign failure - report and how to improve

(regions were mostly <4 strength)... I just didn't have the resources... It's hard to especulate what made your campaign fail but from this I can gather that you might have not done enough missions because most of my regions explode in strenght past... May? June? Except the regions I leave alone on...

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds

But an HQ is probably too long: I prefer double gunners for CC and cover destruction from demolition. It's a matter of redundancy. I already bring 2 Gunners to an HQ if I got them. They do both damage dealing and control. But sometimes that's just not enough. Sometimes a Muton football team will wa...

Re: Technical Flame Guy

Here's the thing tho: Rocketeers and hybrids do flame ambushes too, and the Hybrid do them just as good. The main difference between a hybrid and a pure Fireman is the latter get Roust and Firestorm. How good are those skills compared to accurate rocket and Bunker Buster? https://pics.me.me/ehh-2922...

Re: Does anyone know the aim bonus in close range from pre nerf Shapshot?

I think you'd have to check the files of an old version to find out, unless someone remembers, because it came with the base version and was later removed. And Snapshot is fine IMO, it allows you to safely deploy Sharpshooters into GOps-kinda missions where you aren't guaranteed high ground or have ...

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds

I consider long missions both the ones without timers or those with a large amount of enemies that need several turns to chew thru. The ones you usually take DFA Sharpshooters to and are usually the ones doing the most killing: Supply Raids and UFOs, Troop Columns, HQ, Facilities, GP Missions. On th...

Re: Technical Flame Guy

Personally I have yet to take a Technical up to MSGT going all Fireman side. My Technicals that do make it are either full on Rocketeer or Fireman-Hybrid. So I guess you could take the rest of the post with a grain of salt. My Fireman-Hybrids take all Fireman skills, but instead of picking Roust the...

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds

My default early to mid-game GOps 5-man Sapper team that needs to do a Ex-Light to V-Light Hack GOps looks like this: Shinobi: Usually a Bladenobi. Officer. Medkit. Technical: Usually has FitH. Hopefully the 1st pod is actually moving towards us to open with flamethrower. Has a flashbang. Grenadier:...

Re: Is there a list of hack debuffs?

Those are it. Red Fog doesn't debuffs Hack Defense. I think Ufopaedia has the info you're looking for but I don't have access right now. But yeah, you need a combination of Gremlin II, Skullmining, PCS, innate hack and levels (and maybe if you happen to hit Enemy Protocol) that you can reliably cont...

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds

It isn't like Sappers and Rocketeers are mutually exclusive, my base GOps team usually carries both a Sapper and a Rocketeer for tons of AoE and Cover destruction. Paired with a Ranger (not the sawn-off) there's rarely anything you can't tackle with them on a GOps. And I'm not even dissing on the RD...

I think it might have been initially a bug that was left that way intentionally so that they're competitive as a "boss" enemy.
