Re: Formidable: Ever Worth the Tradeoff

Formidable is currently one of the best perks in the game IMO. I don't typically take it every time, but it's definitely a very very strong perk if survivability is what you're after. Goes on all of my low-HP (I use NCE and HP) soldiers.

Re: PCS Dissapearing

@3dahs - definitely a vanilla bug of some sort. Even observed on PS4. Some think it was introduced with SLG but I'm not sure if that's confirmed. https://steamcommunity.com/app/268500/discussions/0/359543951702867877/ https://steamcommunity.com/app/268500/discussions/0/361798516937256203/ https://st...

Re: Which difficult should I chose?

In combat at least, you can tell enemies that have been granted a dark event perk by the little green buff carat they have. The dark event perks are applied as buffs so they show up when you mouse over the red alien head like any other buff. :)

Note that current stims are really, really, really good. Something like 5 armor and some movement as a free action.

Re: Was Flamethrower Range Nerfed as well in 1.1?

I assume that it's to do with not wanting to have the tech set themselves on fire by setting adjacent tile aflame or something. Well, hazmat suits are in the game, and my flamers always wear one so I think this should be removed... some risk if you don't equip hazmat would add some extra risk... as...

Re: New and Improved Dark Events Thread

@Denniz, to the best of my knowledge LW2's system is a combination of 1 and 2, with none of 3. Rapid Response is indeed a temporary DE.

Re: Was Flamethrower Range Nerfed as well in 1.1?

So are you guys able to target adjacent targets around cover? Like, I am on the south face of a full cover and flanking someone on the west face of the same cover. My flamethrower skips right over him to the square behind him. Has happened repeatedly. If you fire it, does it still hit him? Intended...

Re: New and Improved Dark Events Thread

@nightwyrm it has certainly been very confusing for me personally to see some people wishing tactical DEs were just automatic (and even completely hidden from the player!?) rather than having a chance to counter them. As someone who has had a bit more time to come to terms with the functionality, I ...

Re: What does "Unhindered Operations" mean exactly?

Yep, if you skip one of those missions it counts as a mission failure and you lose the soldier adviser and any rebels who would have been on the mission. If you fail the mission (by skipping or just failing) you can't do that job in that Haven for a while.

Re: Flamer not showing hit at point blank

So the flamer rework was changed such that it should show tiles and enemies affected correctly and also independently (IIRC). The flamer aims in a 3d cone directed roughly level (horizontal). Since the cone emanates from your soldier, it won't actually hit the floor right in front of them because it...

That would not be intended behavior. If you have a save and/or more details, report it in the bug report forum please. :)

Re: New and Improved Dark Events Thread

@Goumindong, you're not technically wrong about the math but I'd advise you to try it out before making conclusions like "this just won't work" based purely on theorycrafting. If the probability of any given dark event going through is high enough, the variance shrinks pretty fast. EV of b...

or get a perk Formidable early on, which basically makes the first ambush worthless since i like to open with grenades. I suggest you try it first before making a conclusion. If you aren't the world's unluckiest guy I think you are in for a surprise. And what exactly would that surprise be? If i us...

Re: New and Improved Dark Events Thread

I asked this question in the other thread, but it wasn't answered: Which Dark Events are permanent, and which are temporary? How long do the temporary ones last? The permanent ones have "Tactical Upgrade" in the name, if I understand correctly. The others will go away eventually. This is ...

I'm not sure there's a easy-ish way to make rendering take time without making it a proving grounds project.

Re: Game Suddenly Ends in Defeat

Blacksite is always as far away as possible - which both provides some consistency to the game (can balance avatar timer around it) and keeps it from being over too quickly. :) The additional links added in LW2 keep that from being insanely far though - I've usually had it within 3 or 4 by the time ...

@spyker I don't remember the specifics at the moment, but tactical DEs are indeed prohibited on at least the first month (for Rookie-Commander at least, not sure about Legend).

Re: Dark Events

Dark events do not scale infinitely (to 100 hp troopers and such). There's a set list of them (3 total hp upgrades in that list), and yes if you play forever you'll probably see most of them. LW2 isn't designed for you to play forever, the goal is to stop the avatar project. For those who aren't imm...

It's the room in the top left of the Avenger (Command.... something?) - there's a new button there that says "Resistance Management". You don't get pips beyond the first two because you don't need them to figure out where you are in the chain - if you have 2 pips you either have Lib 3 next...

The click able rectangles change size based on which row you're on - if you're currently on the front row the ones for the back row will be a little shorter than the ones for the top row, and the extra buttons (utility items etc) won't show up. Might be why it was easy to miss. :)

Most tactical upgrades are intended to be permanent. The balance is there, the game is just really really hard on Legend, requiring mastery of all the mechanics. If you don't mind me asking, why are you playing your first campaign on Legend?

Re: Tactical DEs

Tactical DEs can be stopped, though the health upgrades are particularly difficult to detect (they're supposed to be almost automatic). Also note that not all enemies get them. Active Tactical DEs have a % chance to apply to any given enemy.
