Re: How early is too early to liberate?

Yeah, I could do that, but although he's a good shot, he's pretty low level and I don't think I can do enough to counter -10 defense, plus he has low health. He's out for 20 days if he stubs his toe. He's also kinda slow. I need an experienced guy in the havens anyway. I agree about the suppression....

20 and 99 is same force level. Same enemies will spawn
Thanks Sonny

Re: How early is too early to liberate?

Sorry to Necro-post, but the thread was relevant to my situation. Anyway, I was faced with the same decision the other night. It’s mid-May, starting region is the Artic. I’ve contacted down the side of Eastern Asia (so contacted regions are Artic, E. Asia, and Indonesia. Strength is fairly low in al...

I thought Force (Alert) Levels were capped at 20?

My last campaign, as I was nearing the end, force levels were 22 (and rising, according to the mod I installed). So is there really a force limit?

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

Also keep in mind your experience might be different to the people's giving you advice, since their games might be modded differently. For example, Sonny doesn't have to deal with random promotions, has information revealed that is hidden by design and has additional items you might not have access...

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

It is possible to manipulate the strategic layer a fair bit if you really understand the mechanics, i cluding all the hidden ones. You can also do strange things. Psi-eyes zero infiltration strat. Whatever it is Sonny does, which I never really understood (I don't recognise most of the numbers and ...

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

But with your method, I guess I should buy a few more laser rifles, go heavy and hit the 15 to 19+ enemy missions... I only have two squads of CPLs now, so HQ level engagements is prolly off the table for now, lol... Mmm, I can let you experiment but "a few extra laser rifles to hit 15~19"...

I find it "extremely" hard to believe you will get a MSGT in May.... I don't see how it's possible in any way, unless I'm missing something very subtle. Or obvious. I dunno which, lol

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

Lol, not sure how dealing with a bunch of retaliations constitutes freedom, but ok... Supply retals are fine, but the rest pretty much suck. I would think that you want at least 2 liberated regions which makes a 20% increase very significant over time. That and the fact that all those retals increa...

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

Tactical layer talk should be read while always considering "on what difficulty?" and "how much Advent activity?" But the AI is the same on all difficulties so once you're on the map you'll find your way of getting things done. There's a few things which stop being reliable at h...

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

How would you get supplies? One aspect I'm really not crazy about is the constant scrounging you have to do. It's like living out of a trashcan. Liberation allows you a lot more freedom to get stuff done. If anything, liberating gives you less freedom. The supply job has +20% if the region is liber...

Yes , twice per month (max) for few days of scan. This S&G have better timers and less baseline difficulty. Had a lot of Extr. Light in Strength 3 or 4 regions. In early and mid game they give more than supply job per region. I m regretting putting one region on supply , recruit + intel just gi...

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

Hmm. Strategic choices are few. Scan, get intel , expand rapidly, find regions with one or two connections. Liberate region with one connection and force black site to region with two connections (or less). Don't put Tower in every region (at start) to move Strength. You can skip bad Liberation 2 i...

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

Gratz on your first campaign win. I don't recall ever reading an AAR diary which didn't write up what the strategic choices were. Sure most of the words may get spent discussing tactical missions, but the context is there. Thanks! True the info is there. I just don't wanna sift it out, lol. I may j...

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

Thanks for the Congrats! I'm never gonna do ironman since I've heard the saves are kept somewhere in the steam cloud and they can "go away" for reasons unknown. I just do a quicksave and a hard save at the beginning of a mission and go from there. So this time around, I started in the Arti...

First Campaign in the Books...

Well, I finished my first campaign. Thanks to all for the advice and conversation on the game. There were some dicey, “why am I playing this game anyway?” moments, but I got through. The final mission wasn’t as hard as some of the others I played throughout the campaign, but of course, I had my best...

Re: TIL Blacksite has an absolute RNF timer

I also found the same with the Forge. RNFs starting dropping before I even got the suit. I just finished the Forge and I didn't get a single RNF. I was running for my life, but the RNF notifier never changed from Green. It might be because I'm playing on Veteran or maybe you have the Rapid Response...

Re: Implacable Rangers

I always have a Shinobi and scout as well as possible before engaging. If my Shinobi is the only one concealed, and spots a pod worth engaging, my initial MO is to simply arrange the team (some will OW), out of los and let the sniper activate. Then I handle what's left as needed. Actually the thing...

Re: Implacable Rangers

I'm ignoring the rest of the discussion you're having with SonnyWiFiHr to concentrate on one question. Why would you ever need a Sniper with Phantom? I presume you're specifically talking about snipers who shoot, as opposed to holobots who don't. Phantom on a sniper who intends to shoot is useful b...

Re: Implacable Rangers

5 man squad do not have all tools needed for OW kill zone. Not before Late May You use VIP as activator (activate and run back) and you need Phantom for that . If Phantom is spotted (or if you do that with non Phantom soldier) your OW trap will fail and Advent will shoot at nearest or best target. ...

Re: Implacable Rangers

OW build for early game is lacking aim increase buffs. This can lead to very difficult missions because you can't clear pod with them. Snapshoot Sharpshooter is better. Specialist has better starting perks. So this is mid game squad build. It is support class in most cases. Dark event Conditioning ...

Re: Is This Campaign Normal?

The squad thing was a nice idea but frankly I ignore it. I choose soldiers based on who's available and the mission type. Officers are great but not for squad bonuses. The perks can be quite powerful. Command, Oscar Mike, Incoming are all great - and available early. Cham suits are like suppressors...
