Hahaha that's exactly what I was thinking. It's weird though, I did activate 2 other faceless civilians and they behaved as normal.

So I managed to get one civilian out and it counted it as 0, is that intended? It was one of those where there were only 5 of my civilians all the way on the other side of the map getting killed off as soon as I landed, so one save was as good as I could pull off. The counter up in the corner said 0...

Hacking a Mec on Network Array Mission
I used haywire protocol on an enemy mec and it triggered the array activation cutscene, then stunned all of the aliens. This happened after Hack the network console objective was completed.

You don't necessarily need to spec them as support to take advantage of the stun from arc thrower. I like rapid fire, run and gun, critical hit specialized assaults with armor piercing ammo so they can run up and potentially blast high hp enemies for 18+ damage twice. With a combo of arc thrower stun + stasis from a psi-op, I was able to take down berserker king on the first encounter without taking any damage, with a team that didn't have very high damage output (half of them were carrying laser smgs.) Our suspicion is that the soldiers earned two level-ups from a prior mission, but you can only register one level-up per mission, so the level-ups you are seeing on failed missions are "clearing the books" so to speak. Ah yeah, that makes sense. I think he was a pretty low ranked grenadie...

Yep, as soon as I read the mission goals where I had to defeat all enemies, I roped out immediately and got a level without fighting anything.

XP for failed mission
Is getting xp from failed missions intentional? I had one where I came in with a crew too small for the objective (thought I could just sneak in, destroy the monument and escape, rather than kill all enemies) so I just evac'd out without fighting anything and my dude got a level.
