Re: What is a reasonable amount of soldiers/squads to have?
As for your opinion on whether it goes against the intention of the game mechanics, I'm going to disagree. High risk, high reward is common sense and that's what the game mechanics are saying: "we're not telling you to never underinfiltrate, we're just going to make the mission hardcore"....

Re: What is a reasonable amount of soldiers/squads to have?
I'm not sure exactly how much XP you get from kills or missions but mission XP are seriously inflated in Long War and kills toned down allot as well. A smaller team earn more XP per member from mission XP since they share that too there might not be a huge difference from inflating the enemies on t...

Archon King appeared again after he had been slain
I had killed each of the three Alien Rulers, and a bit after I had killed the Archon King, he appeared again in an Advent HQ liberation mission. Here are the details: -I'm running LW 1.5 with no other mods. I have never even downloaded any other mods. -The Archon King did not have full health. He se...

Re: Getting back satellite from country lost due to panic
This section is for XCOM2's Long War 2 mod. You should post in http://pavonisinteractive.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=5 to get an answer more reliably. It's been so long time since I played LW1 that I don't remember the answer, but I feel like you never could pull satellites back from orbit.

Re: What is a reasonable amount of soldiers/squads to have?
I got two campaigns to give you info, both Legendary: 4/2/2035 : 23 Total, 0 available for recruit 9/17/2035 : 38 Total, 14 available for recruit 1/16/2036 : 44 Total, 44 available for recruit (same campaign as above, pretty much won at this point) The most visible difference with the lowest diffic...

Re: What is a reasonable amount of soldiers/squads to have?
I agree with Jorgen. As I said, my squads haven't been idle. I think the way to get quick MSGTs is to always make them be part of small squads so they get experience faster. That can be done even with a large number of soldiers available; just put the highest ranking guys on any small-suaqd missions.

Re: What is a reasonable amount of soldiers/squads to have?
Currently I have contacted 13 out of 16 regions, and only 4 are liberated. I haven't intended to skip liberations, but I just didn't take those liberation chain missions that popped up with too low infiltration times (which happens often in regions that have at most 5 intel rebels and I don't scan w...

What is a reasonable amount of soldiers/squads to have?
I play 1.5 with Veteran difficulty. I have not completed any LW2 campaign yet, because I've been too slow and I always restarted when new versions appeared. After the start of the game I increased my roster of troops as is natural: I always hired the soldiers from black market and any recruit that b...

Re: Assault class - how to effectively used them?
I fail to see your point about why you're taking Electroshock over Lightning Reflexes. What contributes more to the team effort, a soldier that can disorient a single target (if it misses) or one that can dispel overwatches for the whole team, FOR FREE, allowing it to take better positions? Disorie...

Re: Announcement regarding LW2+WotC
It's great that you can fully concentrate on Terra Invicta from now on. I'm quite curious about that, and I hope the project will be a success. LW2 1.5 version is a very solid package to finish with after all. I started my current LW2 campaign before WotC released, so I haven't tried that yet, but L...

Finally she appeared. September 22nd, so it was quite easy to take out right away with coil weapons and lucky Ionic axe throw stunning her.

Re: Alien Hunters - Berserker boss not appearing
I have two facility leads, but should there be some facilities in the map before it's worth researching them? Avatar project is also at 0 pips thanks to completing a couple of golden path objectives and liberation of multiple regions. The Avatar progress is slowed down a lot due to the amount of mis...

Alien Hunters - Berserker boss not appearing
I am playing a v1.5 LW2 campaign with no other mods, Veteran difficulty. I have both AH and SLG activated, and got their initial missions pretty early in the campaign. I beat the Viper King in the second encounter as he appeared quite shortly after he escaped in the Nest mission. I don't remember th...

Re: Psionics - which skills to pick in what order?
Yeah, Stasis has always been the most important Psionic ability in my opinion. A pod with Gatekeeper is much easier when you can first clear the helpers and then focus fire on the big ball on the following turn. But as I understand in LW2 1.5 every Psi Operative starts with Soulfire, Insanity, and M...

Re: LW2 1.5 Ranger Builds
I play with squads that have at most one of each class. I can deal damage through cover with multple classes, but OW specialization is suitable only for a few. Half of my Specialists are OW, but I have all my Rangers specced the same way for overwatch, so no Walk Fire or Rapid Fire at all. After the...

Re: LW2 1.5 Technical Builds - especially LCpl perk
I find only two pretty straightforward Technical builds interesting, rocketeer and the pyromaniac. Rookie aim 68+: Assault rifle rocketeer LCPL - Fire in the Hole - Combines well with the high aim to have <1.0 scatter even at long ranges. And can even shoot rocket after a blue move and it's still pr...

Re: LW2 1.5 Specialist Builds
Based on aim, I either make an OW specialist or one who uses Gremlin more. Combat Protocol and Trojan are so good, as well as Failsafe for those smaller hacking odds, but the OW skills are amazing for those with high aim. Both builds are healers albeit with different healing-related perks. The aim v...

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds
I like to use all the Grenadier paths, and thus I have three builds. The aim values are for rookies. Low aim <65, decent mobility+SMG: Boomer LCPL - Sapper - Cover destruction is this guy's main job, too bad it maxes out only at MSGT. CPL - Heavy Ordinance - They just want to blow things up. SGT - B...

Re: LW2 1.5 Assault Builds
Edit: The aim values are for rookies. I have three builds because I want to use many of the perks. Low aim, at most 60: Close combat run'n'gunner: LCPL - Electroshock - This suits well for low aim; can do something when targets are afar and RAG not available or it's unwise to use it. CPL - Close an...

Re: Mimimi moments, or no regrets when reloading a save
I don't have ironman enabled because I want to reload if some bug/crash would kill my campaign, or if I made a very nasty misclick, running to the open etc. Hasn't happened yet though. Otherwise I don't reload anything. I play on Veteran so the game so far has been easy enough, and I haven't in fact...
