Re: September brick wall advice

I would just add that GOps become far less important around that point in the game anyway. You should basically be beelining straight through the golden path missions, researching data pads, shadow chamber stuff, etc. You won't be able to afford the gear to have multiple squads doing simultaneous GO...

Re: Psionics - I was doing it all wrong.

IMO the best way to tech to Psi on legend is to see if you can squeeze in Psi between Mag and Coil and still hit Coil before M3s show up around end of Aug or so. If you can then go for it, if not I would either skip it or do it after Coil. I think late-game Psi still can be worth it. All it takes is...

Re: SPARKs Feedback

I think one of their biggest issues is their gear: 1) They only get upgrades at Mag and Plasma tiers. This basically means when you get them their damage is relevant only during the mid-game with mag weapons as nobody in their right mind is going to rush Sparks early game and Mag weapons don't do an...

Re: Balance

Tac vests are probably about equally strong as nanovest\hazmat now, or pretty close. The issue is they're much more expensive to research and build, so why bother? It's definitely a luxury for the Legendary economy (I presume, never tried L myself). It's nice when combined with Predator, Will to Su...

Re: Hit and run vs close encounters vs rapid fire. Need opinions

I use RF for crit-stacked trench/street sweeper assaults to give them some single target firepower. The ability to us RF after RnG is important as I pick up the +crit damage ability while RnG is active. I use CE for my tanky assaults to combo with CCS. These guys are strong all game. I strong build ...

Re: Balance

Incendiary Grenade : Fine with the 1.5 change, but I think it could use even more nerfs. I think you can even tweak it so Fire Grenades have a lower % chance than Fire Bombs and remove Bombs additional radius, as well as make it a Grenadier only item. Sting Grenade: Agreed. I think a change where t...

Re: L/I Victory Campaign Summary

Yeah the lack of balance between various tech options becomes readily apparent on legendary where you are forced down the optimal path. Everybody pretty much agrees with scientist first, early basic research, Exos, Incin nades, etc. Really hurts replayability. edit: Also the end game feels very lack...

Re: Sniper: AMF vs Double Tap

But the second shot doesn't count for the purpose of DfA, according to this thread, does it? That's quite a negative point for DT IMO. The second shot does, but the first shot doesn't so you have to be mindful of this when selecting the order of your targets. I feel DT is vastly superior for a DFA ...

Re: Filling out the Barracks in v1.4

Combat Protocol is superior to Revival early game is the vast majority of situations. The most common problem early is the endless stun drones can inflict. You have the choice to either take the stun and cleanse with Revival or to simply pop the drone with combat protocol. Seeing as the latter opti...

Re: Combatives fix

Huh? Combatives for sure works against Lancers. Or did you mean to say that their AI won't necessarily melee a target standing next to them and thus not as exploitable as Muton's AI? But I think we can all agree adjusting Muton's AI would be the preferred "fix" if feasible. Would love to ...

Re: Painful Skill Tree Changes

Full override at gsgt, and the hordes of robots, is what makes the specialist good now. You don't need any other skills, doesn't matter if you're a medical or overwatch spec, full override reliably kills a unit, and adds it to your team. On GOPs, having a hacked unit to draw fire is a huge boost. I...

Re: Let's talk Gunner

I view gunners in the same camp as snipers - kings of untimed missions. They are a bit slow to start off but are incredibly powerful mid to late-game. My untimed mission squads (e.g. for troop columns/supply raids/HQ) each have 2 gunners in them. The only thing I agree with is the redundancy of the ...

Re: How do you deal with yellow alert flanking shots?

Listed in order of effectiveness, but you're always going to want to do a combination of these: 1) Creeping along the edge of a map to reduce the number of directions you can be flanked 2) Keeping in mind how many pods are left, the map layout, and intel on pod locations (almost always 1 pod by the ...
