Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds
Sure, high aim specialists become OWs and to burn the officers abilities from a shinobi before breaking concealment is obvious, too. And there will always be specialist and shinobi officers on my roster. The question is, has anyone experience with grenadier officers? There are only a few classes to ...

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds
Has anyone considered or better yet tested Grenadiers as officers? RD gives a little room with the action economy and I feel you don't need grenades on every encounter/pod. The biggest downside I see is that in case of real emergency you'd have to choose between command and an incendiary. Otherwise,...

Re: Boosted infiltration from Moderate to Heavy
Can't help out with a reason but I had the same thing happening not so long ago. I infiltrated a mission with the intent to boost and when I did the difficulty got higher instead of lower just as you described. I reloaded and everything went the way it was supposed to. First I thought a UFO reinforc...

Re: Mimimi moments, or no regrets when reloading a save
If I mess things up I restart the whole mission so if I reload it's usually an early activation out of stupidity or impatience. Yesterday I had two Haven Spy missions in a row. The first one went so well that on the second mission I activated the second pod with the faceless a little too uncautious....

Re: How many intel havens/cherry-picking mission strategy?
Run Intel everywhere. No need for the recruit job because I find jail breaks. No need for supply job because I detect a sufficient amount of ambushes and supply raids. A lot of missions pass by but I try to run as many missions as somewhat possible in the first months. Therefore I can never have eno...

Re: Is Gauss/Mag rushing possible?
A little necro on this one as my recent 1.2 commander (definitely non ironman) campaign is about to come to an end and I'm already spending a few thoughts on my next campaign. I intend to try C/I and I'd like to know if there will be some changes to the tech path and costs for lasers and/or mags. I ...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes
Why the change to Formidable? WHY!?
And, yeah, it would really be nice to know if there is a way to avoid current campaigns to be affected by 1.3
Or will it only affect new campaigns started after the patch is up?

Re: Stationary sniper build feedback.
Now, that I think again about concealment, it can be kind of the solution to the problems with DFA snipers on GOps. They will still be better on high ground but if you can put the sniper in place within the first 2 turns (should be doable, with a grappling hook even more) they can support the team a...

Re: Is there any reason the game says "Extremely Light" instead of "Extremely Light (6–9)"?
What's the difference in presenting the chosen option to actual numbers, though? It may be confusing at first to find out how light "Light" really is, but on the other hand who plays a game like Xcom without knowing a few numbers? 6-9 Advents still does not equal 6-9 snakes and mutons, so ...

Re: Question on protect supply convoy
Are you maybe talking about two different types of retaliations? If I'm not mistaking, the recruit retal is the one where there are RNFs every turn and you have to pick up the rebels and run them to evac. The supply retal is the one with fighting rebels placed on the other end of the map and RNFs dr...

Thanks for the confirmation. Now I just need to finish work and see if there ist a CA PCS left for my favorite gunner. Which happens to be me in the current campaign.

Re: When do the new PCS worth?
I never tried CA on a gunner because I thought suppression and OW were two different things. So, ist this confirmed? It would be really strong. Most of the PCSs are just minor buffs and I sell them especially early on when every supply counts. After the economy comes online I equip whatever I got. M...

Re: Usefulness of Plasma Grenades/Medics
Doesn't sound too bad for me. Once again, RF on makes me prioritize medkits on longer missions. Bullett sponge assaults might make good use of it but it takes away the ammo slot as you would want as much armor and HP on them as possible. A ranger or gunner can much rather spend a slot on a medkit. ...

Re: Usefulness of Plasma Grenades/Medics
I like both, plasma grenades and medics. :D I play with red fog on which is pretty much the explanation, I guess. Plasma grenades are a great opener for pod activation and they hurt many enemies before they get their actions. I dont care about the bodies until I can be sure my soldiers wont get hurt...

Re: Value of stealth?
Stealth missions can be successfully done by a team of 1-3 soldiers, necessary in the order of shinobi, specialist, flash grenadier. Keep these soldiers together under the purpose of doing important rescues. The shinobi gets trained for a few officer ranks to get at least two commands. The flash gre...

Re: Officer training times and using squads
Honestly, while the "squad that experienced some shit together" idea might be flavourful, I question its place in the game. Why do I get punished for choosing the best soldiers available for the job? This is especially annoying since the squad management itself has more downs than ups to ...

Stun Lancer behavior: value of cover and tile checking
Two questions about Stun Lancers: 1. They expose themselves to other than the targeted soldier to melee attack. Are they meant to be suicidal? I can see them risking the flank on the targeted soldier but being flanked by other soldiers doesn't seem to have significant or any value. 2. I had to retre...
