Honestly, half of LW1's arsenel went unused. More options =/= better gameplay. Carbines had a nice steady role in the early game, for your aiming impaired soldiers and rookies. It's from previous unlreased LW patch notes. Everytime you ask for an ETA, a rookie is killed.

This is a QOL improvement I need. Especially when it comes to officer training. Sometimes I have to look at my squad management menu to make sure I'm not training a candidate who already is in a squad with an officer.

It seems consistent with the grenade changes. Basically, less of a chance that your soldier shooting through the floor to get at someone will then CREATE A HOLE IN SAID FLOOR, then FALL THROUGH THE FLOOR, and then KILL THEMSELVES FROM FALL DAMAGE. If you do Haven Missions in Vanilla, the crew will make various comments on the different set pieces in a Haven. Off the top of my head: Training/Obstacle courses. Lots of athletic equipment, range targets, climbing walls. Basic Irrigation and farming set ups. Raido and broadcasting equipment. On to...
